If you're in Houston I'll let you rent mine.

For storage, I put a pulley mount in the garage so it's out of the way and very easy to mount now.

I've never seen that but wouldn't be surprised if it exists.

Maybe buy a used one on marketplace and sell it when you're done with it?

I posted a WTB on classifieds here and ended up trading a case of beer to a good Ag for one he had in his garage. That thing now has at least another 15,000 miles on it between trips from DC to Texas along with a few to Colorado and Oklahoma. If you buy one you might be surprised at how often you use it. Makes loading up for a camping weekend or other short trip easier and less crowded.

Doesn't REI rent some equipment? Pretty sure they carry those boxes so might check if they rent.

Good idea. Otherwise I may just ask around and see if I can borrow one from a friend.

In the UK it was extremely common to rent them….however never seen it in Houston.
