Loaner or demo vehicle? Someone took advantage of a "return after x days if you don't like it" deal?

There could be lots of non nefarious reasons. When I was in the car business years ago I saw several interesting cases

1. Guys elderly mother he cared for couldn't step up into truck
2. Won't fit in garage
3. Won't handle the trailer I intended to pull.

These were the first things that I remembered.
I would guess 3 in this case

It is a double cab and not a crew cab. If you have not been in one, the new body style double cabs have very little backseat room and would really be good for kids under about age 13 due to the diminished leg room. This alone makes it a hard sale.

I actually bought a 2023 crew cab tundra that an older man bought new and kept for 5 months and then traded it in on a 10 year old Toyota suv to get out of the note. He put like 620 miles on it in 5 months and took a 27% hit on the trade when he did the deal.

just goes to show that in spite of what internet people say about wanting smaller trucks, the hilux needs to come to the US, etc, we still don't actually want them

Dbl cab is essentially a single cab with space for groceries and tools.

I think 1ags and like 2 other posters have made a Rule 1 thread of an XL truck within the past decade.

People say they want a simpler truck, but it's not what they buy.

ETA: Clearly that was the XL that 1ags turned into a Platty

I love the bells and whistles in modern trucks and the fact I can drive a luxury vehicle that can pull my boat and handles the road like a car. Denali FTW

The older Tundra double cabs were fine. I got in one once. I'm not exactly small, although I wouldn't say I'm tall (right at 6'). Seated, my knees were pretty close to a front seat that was in, I believe, a normal position. Would it be comfortable for a 3 hour trip? Probably not, but for someone who just needed a backseat and mostly put stuff back there, it was fine.

I was looking for a Tundra double cab when I bought my F150 a few years ago. I would have settled on the crew cab, but I couldn't find either. Every time I found a prospect, a call to the dealer or seller found it had been sold or was in the process of being sold. With that said, I haven't seen or been in the newer body styles at all, crew, double, or whatever.

The older DC actually have more backseat legroom than the newer DC. I had older dc's for years and they worked well but when moving to the new body style and with kids approaching 6 ft there was just no legroom versus the crew cab. I think the dc has 16 or 17 inch less leg room in the rear versus the crew cab.

My guess would be it was used as a loaner for an event like a golf tournament or the MS150 that Toyota sponsored.
