A lot has happened in the last week to 10 days here; all vehicle related but all of the events don't really connect. So here goes...

Quick recap, I *****ed about John Eagle Honda not getting me my license plates in a timely manner on a pre-owned I bought on March 31, 2025. Mookie (poster here) stepped in and connected me with people who would respond and I believe we are on the right track now to get plates. Many thanks to Mookie!

While I don't have permanent plates yet, I have faith I'll get them soon. In the meantime, I had to go over to the Brazos County tax office and renew my temp tags for the 3rd, and final allowable, time. It is not paper anymore - it is an actual metal plate now that one tosses once it expires. Y'all probably knew that, but I have a attached a photo of what it looks like.

Next, my wife and I bought a Tesla Model Y at the end of December. It was OK in the winter and before we had a grandson in Austin. It was while with black interior. Fun car to drive, but I missed having some more traditional features like a gauge cluster in front of. Bottom line is, it only had 4300 miles on it as we ended up taking my truck everywhere outside of College Station. The charging bit on the road got annoying and, about a week ago, the inside temperature of the car per the app was 172 degrees.

Nope. I'm done and suggested we move on to something more practical for us. It was fun to drive, no doubt. So, Mookie connected me with John Eagle Acura and I had a smooth buying process with them and got a fair deal on a 2025 MDX AWD base model. They had the only new one in Houston. Back to white with the parchment interior. Nice, roomie SUV. It has the V6, but not a turbo. Enough juice for my wife and I, very quiet and smooth ride.

I vowed to never go to a John Eagle dealer again, but strange things happen when you get someone on your side like Mookie. Great job with the service recovery.

Sorry. Had some photo issues but eventually got the Rule 1 posted.

Thanks man, glad it worked out for you! So sorry about the plates still being a pain.

Live the new ride. Alice is the best out there. Although with JEH sometimes that bar is low LOL.

Sounds like a saga!

The expiration on the temp plates is interesting. Wouldn't that be 09/2002? They use the same corner tags on antique plates which always has the right year.

That also looks like a DL# at the top. Do they print DL on the tags now?

Fair questions. The 9/02 is actually September 2nd. I don't know what the other numbers are but I assure you that's not my DL.

What a mess. Glad it worked out for you. It's cool to see a TexAgs connection solve a problem. One of the things we all love about this place.

On the Model Y they do see to get hot fairly quickly which I think can be attributed to the glass roof. I've basically trained myself to turn on the AC from the mobile app a couple of minutes before we leave wherever we are. It cools down fast so it's really not been an issue for us. I did get max tint on the doors and rear hatch which I'm sure has helped.

Agreed on precooling the Tesla. With that feature it's a non issue imo. It's practically a must have now for Texas summer. I've even found myself starting my truck and letting it run for a while before getting in due to the heat.

Eh why isn't the Honda dealer giving you new paper tags??

I live in College Station and, at the time, wasn't getting any help from the dealer. It was easier for me to do it myself in Brazos County. I sent the receipts and hours for my time to them for reimbursement.
