A lot has happened in the last week to 10 days here; all vehicle related but all of the events don't really connect. So here goes...
Quick recap, I *****ed about John Eagle Honda not getting me my license plates in a timely manner on a pre-owned I bought on March 31, 2025. Mookie (poster here) stepped in and connected me with people who would respond and I believe we are on the right track now to get plates. Many thanks to Mookie!
While I don't have permanent plates yet, I have faith I'll get them soon. In the meantime, I had to go over to the Brazos County tax office and renew my temp tags for the 3rd, and final allowable, time. It is not paper anymore - it is an actual metal plate now that one tosses once it expires. Y'all probably knew that, but I have a attached a photo of what it looks like.
Next, my wife and I bought a Tesla Model Y at the end of December. It was OK in the winter and before we had a grandson in Austin. It was while with black interior. Fun car to drive, but I missed having some more traditional features like a gauge cluster in front of. Bottom line is, it only had 4300 miles on it as we ended up taking my truck everywhere outside of College Station. The charging bit on the road got annoying and, about a week ago, the inside temperature of the car per the app was 172 degrees.
Nope. I'm done and suggested we move on to something more practical for us. It was fun to drive, no doubt. So, Mookie connected me with John Eagle Acura and I had a smooth buying process with them and got a fair deal on a 2025 MDX AWD base model. They had the only new one in Houston. Back to white with the parchment interior. Nice, roomie SUV. It has the V6, but not a turbo. Enough juice for my wife and I, very quiet and smooth ride.
I vowed to never go to a John Eagle dealer again, but strange things happen when you get someone on your side like Mookie. Great job with the service recovery.
