My wife's 2013 Ford Edge has a backup camera problem that apparently is pretty common. The camera is upside down, black, shows a communication error message, or works perfectly. Ford just announced a recall for 2015-2019 for the exact same problem, but the local dealer said they've had no luck getting Ford to fix it for anything more than 10 years old. https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/ford-recalls-19-million-vehicles-over-faulty-rear-view-camera-2025-09-09/
I watched some YouTube videos and it doesn't look too hard to fix it myself. However, Amazon has about a million knockoff versions and none of them have great reviews. Can anybody recommend an off-brand model or convince me that I should just bite the bullet for an OEM? Looks like Amazon is less than $50 and OEM is probably about $300. eBay also advertises some OEM cameras but it's hard to know how legit they are.
