At the 12 minute mark Max drives what appears to be the replacement for the GT500, a supercharged Dark Horse

This pretty much confirms that we've seen the last of Shelby tagged cars from Ford imo. For Shelby collectors that might be a good thing. My 2013 GT500 convertible is from the final version ever of a GT500 convertible. One of about 1800 units.

Base $108k
Track Pack $145k
Track Pack Special Edition $176k

Used S550 GT500, GT350, and Mach1 look better and better with each new Mustang release. EDIT: For the chevy people, yes a low option C8 Z06 could be had for around $110k, we know

Not sure what market Ford is targeting with the 100k mustang.

When the GT500s creeped up to that price it kind of made sense because you had boomer nostalgia driving demand to a certain extent, but lacking the connection to the past or the retro nameplates I'm not sure who they are building this for.

For context I've owned a Boss 302, Bullitt, GT350 and Mach 1 over the past 10 years. I'm their bread and butter, the guy with enough disposable income to keep buying their nostalgia every 3-4 years. But I don't have 110k laying around and as mentioned, if I did I'd be getting into a Z06 instead.

Clout chasers

Run of the mill GTs w/ boost and fuel will be able to bully the Dark Horse SC at a much lower price point.

I agree but I'm not sure what clout you get when to an outsider it looks like you paid 110k for a GT with a blower when you could have bought a GT for 40k and put a 15k blower on it and be in a similar HP range. Or heck, buy a DH for 65k and the blower for 15k and you're still way ahead. You just look like a dumbass to most people paying 110k for a "regular looking" Mustang.

Only a Mustang fan will be able to tell that you actually have a 5.2 instead of the 5.0 and VERY few Mustang owners are getting heavy track use. In fact, I bet as price goes up like this, track use declines precipitously. I liked tracking my Boss, I was much more nervous with my GT350. I could rationalize a mistake with a 30k Mustang costing me some money to fix. I really had a hard time enjoying the GT350 at the limit because if it broke, I'd be screwed. I can't imagine tracking a 110k Mustang lol.

Now imagine the $176K version… in a mustang. And I'm a huge Ford homer but this is ridiculous

I agree. A gt500 I maybe could get behind. Darkhorse. Meh. And at those prices I'd buy a premium gt and supercharge it.

Or a used 992.1 911.

I'm a huge Ford guy too, hard to think they aren't alienating guys like me though with their continued price hikes.

They could sell tons of special mustangs if they could hold the price down towards 40-45k, instead they'll sale 100s of them maybe at those asinine prices.

I think the thing they are forgetting is that love of muscle cars is a generational thing that can be passed down, and when you price them like this, family men like myself no longer have the ability to have a 3rd car just for cruising with the kids and passing on that love.

Just wish they would do a Boss "429" with the Godzilla, but no telling how much they would price that at.

One good thing about the Darkhorse SC is the revised front fenders extend out far enough to avoid putting that plastic piece from the DH Handling Pack to meet the federal regs on tire edge being past the body panel. It also has the traction control programming from the GTD developed by Multimatic. Everything else is basically the S550 GT500 with additional HP.
