If you have a college aged kid (21) who will be interning in another city for the summer, do you have to call your car insurance and let them know about this? Thanks in advance.

I didn't, but mine just had liability only and he knew the next car and the insurance was on him. He's a pretty good driver, only 2 minor incidents since he got his license one might not have even counted.he's now married and will turn 25 this year so things should get cheaper for him.

Yes you should let them know the car will be garaged at a different address.

Most companies won't really care at claim time but they could make it difficult if they wanted to.
