Models on the Ultium platform, such as the Chevrolet Blazer EV, Cadillac Lyriq, and GMC Hummer EV, have below-average or well-below-average reliability scores. Issues include multiple recalls (electrical, door, accelerator), battery/charging concerns, and service headaches. per Consumereports

Several 20242025 Chevrolet Blazer EV models are under recall due to a potential defect in the rear parking brake wiring harness, which can cause it to short or corrode, leading to unexpected parking brake activation while driving or failure to engage when parked. This issue affects over 40,000 vehicles, requiring dealers to inspect, repair, or replace the harness. [1, 2, 3]
Key 20242025 Blazer EV Recalls:
  • Parking Brake Wiring Harness (2025-2026): The primary recall involves a risk of the wiring harness for the rear parking brake being damaged or corroded. Symptoms include a "service parking brake" warning, or the vehicle not shifting out of park, according to Recharged.
  • Chassis Harness Recall (February 2026): Specific models are being recalled for a potential failure of the harness, which can trigger the parking brake while driving, according to Kelley Blue Book.
  • Previous Issues (20232024): Early production models faced significant software issues that led to a voluntary stop-sale in late 2023, requiring major software updates. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Remedy and Contact Info:
  • Action: Repairs, including inspection and potentially replacing the wiring harness with an improved part, are performed free of charge at Chevrolet dealerships.
  • Contact: Owners can contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, with official recall notices sent via mail.
  • Verification: To check if your specific vehicle is affected, you can use the Kelley Blue Book recall tool or the Cars.com recall lookup. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Tesla Model Y recalls generally address software-related issues fixed via over-the-air (OTA) updates, along with hardware issues like suspension, camera, and latch failures. Major recalls include issues with automatic steering, rear-view cameras, and battery contactors, often covering 20202026 models. Use the Tesla VIN Recall Search tool to check specific vehicle status. I have had a model Y for 3 years and 80k miles and have not even noticed a single "recall"

Those minor things get fixed with the simple software updates.

And the best thing is Tesla has the grown up adult version of Super Cruise, available on any street in any situation at any time.

Ok, you were the one to raise recalls and Consumer Reports, so I thought those were important metrics for you.

Consumer Reports Rating: The 2023 Tesla Model Y Reliability has moved into the "about average" reliability category, despite 15+ recalls.

While it's one of many datapoints, I don't put a ton of weight on recalls since they can be quite varied in their individual impact. I think the OP might be more interested in day to day life with the vehicle, I believe a Blazer SS EV might be slightly faster than a Model Y Long range (not a Performance trim Y), but the Model Y is less expensive, significantly lighter, and has comparable or larger passenger and cargo space than the Blazer even though the overall vehicle footprint of the Y is smaller. It's a better package in the Y, choosing the Blazer would be based on aesthetics rather than the drivetrain or usability.

We're one week into a model Y with every type of driving you can do. 1300 mile road trip this past weekend in day, night and rain. I can't imagine owning any other EV and my only regret is buying a Ram for myself a couple months ago instead of a cybertruck. FSD is worth every penny
