The Kia we had hoped to give to our almost 16 year old is just in too rough of shape and not worth fixing everything wrong to get it in driving condition.

I'm in the DFW area, so figured I would try Texags first. I've purchased 2 cars from here with great success and always prefer dealing with Ags, especially in the realm of older used cars.

Not a big budget here unfortunately, but really just need something reliable enough to get her at least through last 2 years of high school.

My wife is about to put her sporty white Nissan Juke Nismo, 2015 on the market… 6 speed turbo. 92k miles.

Looks exactly like this stock picture (will post live/real pics shortly as it's being cleaned/detailed in prep to sell. It's been well loved and maintained and in very good condition inside and out. No rust, no accident history, etc.

Kicker - this is sporty as hell, so it's a MANUAL (STICK) transmission.

No way my daughter can do a manual, but that's a nice little car!

Understand. Wife absolutely loves the car and is kinda being forced to move on and get a bigger car…. And received a new suv in an inheritance and knows that's what she SHOULD drive…. But really doesn't want to let go.

Also have a 1972 VW Beetle (orig, no mods) going up on the market too. Rare.

I taught my 16-year-old daughter to drive a stick and provided her with a manual transmission vehicle specifically so she wouldn't text and drive

Just a thought

I bet she'll learn real fast if her other option is walking.

How much you asking for it? Manual in a Juke is very interesting and would probably be great to teach my daughter to drive manual. Email in profile if you'd prefer email

It's easy to teach someone to drive a standard. It's never taken me more than an hour, and they are always driving as smooth as a seasoned driver when the session is over. No stalls or killing the vehicle.... even on an incline.

idAg09/Sea Speed,

We don't know yet, I'm letting her handle it... CarMax/Edmunds is offering $7000, so I suspect we'll ask between 7500-8000 (which I think is beyond fair, honestly). She's been in meetings all day and hasn't had time to breathe yet...

So we'll know shortly, and she plans to move it (sell) later this week... goal is get it out by end of month. It's her baby, and quite frankly any money she gets goes into her personal play/whatever accounts and not to me, so I could kinda care less.

I'm biased here, going to sound like a salesman - but here's the honest truth Aggie to Aggies... this is a very good little car, and is a seriously fun drive. Really zips and zooms, has a sports car feel 100%. I feel like it's more a 'girl car' than a 'boy car' because of the way it looks.

The second it's ready and she's decided on a price and it's available, I'll post it here FIRST and give Aggies a first shot before we go other possible routes.... because (a) we're aggies and (b) this forum has helped me before and (c) she'd rather it go to a nice person because of her emotional attachment to the darn thing haha versus just dumping it to carmax in an easy fire-and-forget mode.

This. I don't say this for the future sale of my wife's car.... I just happen to agree. It's VERY fun to drive stick in sportly little car, to the point it might shock you.

When my wife and I met 8 years ago, it took her 3 years to get me to get into it (I'm a big truck guy, and a bigger guy so I prefer bigger cars) - and when I finally did I was shocked at how fast I remembered how to drive stick/manual after 20+ years of never doing it AND quite frankly how fun and fast that little car is. Totally a fun drive in a world of mostly boring cars to drive.

Plus, I agree with the positives about 'staying busy' with less texting/makeup/etc for a younger person... don't take that for granted, it's fantastic advice.

My process is simple. It is based on the fact that most people's issue is in taking off, and not with shifting gears while moving. Go to a large, empty parking lot and have them practice taking off in first gear. A second or two after they have fully released the clutch, have them stop. Once they get the hang of starting in first gear, have them shift to second gear. Now have them do the same exercise, but now they will be taking off in second gear. Once they are comfortable and confident in starting from second gear, they are ready to hit the road and practice shifting gears while driving. Once on the road, I also like to take them to a country road that has a stop sign on a slope. In my experience, they always stop and take off with ease. This builds their confidence.

Forget the white car. When are you planning on putting that beetle on the market?

The beetle isn't my jazz, but it is cool in that she (wife) bought it from the original owner about 1-2 years ago, had it trucked in from Mississippi on a flatbed.

It's VERY original except original owner had it painted blue from its orig lime green.

We're dealing with the new car & white car intro/exit this week and will start on the beetle after…. So I'll publish it in the next week or two for her here first, and then public after if it doesn't get nabbed up by us Aggies first.

We have a VW Passat diesel that we are about to sell. It was my daughter's first car and we upgraded her since she's driving aways to college.

I have not priced it yet but it's going to around $5k

Did you use AI for that or did you actually type "very potent turbocharged engine"?

We taught both our boys to drive with a stick so their friends couldn't drive their car. It also helps with the texting issue too.
