Maybe a dumb question. Do you guys wear the Oura on your ring finger? Does it feel like a normal ring?

I wear it on my middle finger of right hand. Give me some style when I need to issue an insult to someone.

You will notice it more than your wedding ring but less than an Aggie ring.

I've decided to set aside my Oura Ring 4 and not do any health tracking. I've used either Garmin or this Oura for years now. I find myself thinking too much about it and actually wondering if wearing the Oura is making my sleep worse because of negative feedback loop in wondering how I'll score next morning.

Almost feels like an addiction at this point and I want to break that.

Going to roll commando without fitness tracking this week and see how that treats me.

What are the goals?

I did whoop for about a year. I collected all the data and the only thing I did with it was used the stress score as a badge of honor. The higher the stress the more proud I was. It was a destructive feedback loop.

Want better sleep? Take 2 pills of magnesium glycinate before bed.

I'm still a consistent Oura wearer 2.5 years later. The app I use to track bloodwork lets my Oura upload activity data and the feedback factors it in.

The only annoying part is having to take it off for lifting and jiu jitsu but I knew that going in.

Just to break away from incessantly tracking everything. I feel like I've hit the point of diminishing returns with it.

I'm tracking workouts in the Strong app which will feed to Apple Health, if I even care to look at AH.

Will be doing a lot more hiking where we are, so I'll bust out my Garmin watch for that specific activity.

Outside of that, it's become a distraction I think. We shall see how I feel about it at end of this week.

Four days in and I don't miss my Oura Ring at all and I think my sleep is better. At least I'm not waking up as much and I'm falling asleep faster.

No, but I will. My wife uses it religiously. For some reason I just never tried it.

Try Magnesium L-threonate if glycinate doesn't do what you want.

I looked at this. Problem with Fitbit Air just like the Oura is that it won't recognize strength training, if you care about that. Whoop seems to do this better based on cursory research, but it's also a lot more expensive than the Fitbit Air.

FTR, (not that anyone cares )I have returned to Garmin and moved away from Oura Ring. I'm a bit schizo with this stuff, however we have moved into a mountainous environment and back to hiking and soon to purchase a new trail bike, so the Oura is now obsolete for my lifestyle.

Actually just purchased the Garmin Instinct 3 Tactical to replace my old Garmin Venu 2 and Oura Ring. Sleeping better without the Oura (ironically), but still need to try Magnesium.

I pre-ordered the air and have had it since last Tuesday. I have never had a "tracker" before. I looked into the whoop a while back because i wanted a no screen tracker but it was a subscription. Anyways. I have no frame of reference but as much as i can tell it is a hrm and step counter. I can start and stop workouts or it will ask me after if i worked out. I think I linked my peloton account with it.

I was interested in the sleep tracking and HRM. it has been years since i was multiport training and used to know my heart rate zones.

Too soon to recommend and also no clue if this is better or worse than anything.

I mostly just like to hear myself type.

I have a Fitbit Air. Been rocking an Epix II for 3 or so years. But was missing my normal watches and wanted a screen-less to track data on the other wrist.

Liking it so far. I track workouts on a bike head unit, but have used it for a few runs. But turned off the AI auto-detect workout so quick. It was flooding my Strava with walks.

Someone should come out with a strap for a normal watch that integrates the removable Fitbit puck on the underside.

I've seen this suggested before and it's brilliant. Should be solvable. Would be awesome if I could wear my nice watch's with a tracking band and not miss a beat.

Google released the sizing and requirements in CAD for the fitbit air so any homebrew should be possible

I have a few nice mechanical watches that I like to wear so I have always stayed away from smart watches. I would love someone to come up with a band I could put on my daily wear watches and the band has all tech in it.

People are doing this with the new Fitbit air!

That lug gap is ass, though.

I put calipers on mine. The Air strap is 18mm. My F91W about to have a renaissance after two decades at the bottom of the watch box. Only 18mm lug watch I have outside of vintage Omega.

Sure, but they just released the specs for 3rd party band designers a couple of days ago or something. It's only going to get better,
