Anyone here use Texas Farm Bureau for health insurance? There plans are through United Healthcare, I understand some of the plan details but don't want to miss something major compared to what our current marketplace plan is.

I'm aware of waiting periods, hopefully that won't be an issue but never know obviously. We are a young family 2 kids under 6, no major problems for any of us.

Self-employed and wife is stay-at-home, so that's the reason for interest in their offering.

Have you spoke with anyone on a plan? I'm thinking I'll call this coming week and see. Also have to figure out the penalty to cancel my marketplace plan. But the savings are pretty considerable when it comes to monthly premium and the deductible is even close as well.

Unfortunately I have not. I just know my bottom of the barrel BCBS family plan is sending me to the poor house pretty quick.

Following.
Looked at Texas Farm Bureau yesterday, the only option available to get a quote for looks like a Short Term plan. Is that correct?
I've had Short Term insurance in previous years with UHC, it's decent coverage but with limitations, primarily related to pre-existing conditions and only 4 months coverage at a time.

I had a few minutes to call but got cut off by a work call. The person I talked to specifically said it is long term plans, that renew every month as long as you are paying. I am going to call back later, if you know of any details to ask to clarify let me know.

Okay, thanks!
Could be it's similar to American Medical Plans (Scott Ferguson), I hear their ads on the radio. Talked to them a few weeks ago and took notes but don't have them with me. I was a little leery of the whole thing, i.e. never heard of the insurance company they were associated with, and I didn't get clear answers on pre-existing conditions, waiting periods, etc. Anyway, don't want to sign on, end up needing some expensive procedure (going to need eye surgery at some point) and then get a 'gotcha, not covered' down the road. UHC and Golden Rule are legit, so Farm Bureau might be a good way to go for you.
