I was laid off from my job 9 months ago and the company stops paying COBRA premiums for me at the end of this month (July).

I just received an offer for a new job, but the Health Insurance coverage will not start until October 1st.

Does anyone know about options for a 2-month major medical policy just in case something horrible happens in those 2 months?

I really don't want to pay $4400 for two more months of COBRA coverage when all I really need covered in those two months is major medical.

(This is in Texas)

Look up short term plans by United healthcare. It was a short term policy we used for quite awhile. Much more affordable but they won't cover any pre existing. Just new stuff and emergencies like what you are needing.
