Howdy y'all; I've spent the last year researching Aggies killed in WWII, and currently, I have a spreadsheet of over 750 names.

I have specific, detailed information of the Aggies buried or memorialized at the following American Cemeteries:

  • 10 Aggies at the Ardennes
  • 9 Aggies at Brittany, France
  • 12 Aggies at Cambridge, UK
  • 22 Aggies at Normandy
  • 8 Aggies at Epinal, France
  • 9 Aggies at Henri Chapelle, Belgium
  • 15 Aggies at Lorraine, France
  • 7 Aggies at Luxembourg, Belgium
  • 20 Aggies in the Netherlands
  • 77 Aggies in Manila
  • 100+ Aggies buried in the US
  • Still working on other overseas cemeteries

My question to those who will read this post is, what should I do with this information? I have a lot of ideas, but I'd like to hear others' thoughts.

I am fully aware of the MSC plaque with all these names, but it is the stories of these men that are amazing but lost to history.

So, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

This would be great to put on a website dedicated to Aggie service in WWII.

Web site is good, better might be a bound book put in the Sanders Corps Center archives

I saw this book in St Paul's Cathedral in London.

Agree. Short narrative including what you suggested, their hometown, class year, etc.

I spent 2 1/2 weeks in Europe last year, and I have to say they do a much better job of honoring and remembering our men KIA then we do.

Interactive screen on campus would be neat. Probably would be best utilized in either the Corps center or MSC.

A website would also be easier for us that only get to campus about once every few years.

I'm sure out of that list, there are several Ags that have just an insanely crazy story. Would be neat to make some sort of documentary on a few of them. Or even just make one on the MoH recipients.

This video has sparked my interest in highlighting the stories of Texas Aggies during World War II.

I like this idea. I don't have any other thoughts right now but wanted to tell you that posting this list is an amazing idea. These boys need to be remembered.

A website is likely the quickest path to publishing your research. It would also get the biggest audience. I do like the idea of a book as well.

Captain Kenneth McFarland Irby, '39, was killed in action on May 25, 1943, while serving in North Africa.

This picture is on his memorial site, and I find it touching that the family got his dog back due to orders by General Eisenhower.

I agree with website, but I am also wondering if a published book would help fund your efforts. Also, a book will last forever.
