Let's have some light-hearted fun. It's easy to have a very old grandfather…but grandmothers have different limitations. I'm an only 60 years old. My grandmother was born in 1881. Never learned how to read or write, had to sign her name with an "x."
So did she have your parent late or did your parents have you late.
60 and1881? Damn.
She was born in 1881.....and was 42 when my dad was born in 1923. And my dad was 42 when I was born in 1965. A couple of other interesting things about her:
- she could recall the indians bringing turtles to her family's cabin and having her mother cook them.
- she insisted on dressing up to watch the Lone Ranger back in the 50's....because she refused to believe folks on television could not also see her.
- her oldest son (my uncle of course) was killed in an army air corps plane crash in San Antonio in 1928.
- her husband (my grandfather) ran off and lived with another woman in another state when my dad was five, but they never did formally divorce and would see each other when both visiting grandkids
Now on the other side of the family....there was an uncle, not a great uncle...that fought in the Spanish American war. But....that involved a 60 year old marrying an 18 year old......don't ask.
