Game was it that made you not care anymore? I haven't completely lost all hope with Elko, but this will be my first season where I go to the games without any expectations. I'm a young one, and have already gotten to that point. I'll say the Auburn game last year made me realize I can't put any expectations on A&M football anymore.

I know most of you are just too apathetic to even care about A&M football anymore, so which specific game made you yank the cord from caring about Aggie Football? What will it take for you to be reeled back in?

Let's be real, plenty of people say they're apathetic but will be right back on the bandwagon at the slightest hint of success.

Look at just the last year alone. After the Notre Dame game it was all rage and apathy and Aggie football is destined to be mediocre. After the LSU game everyone was through the roof with expectations.

The one thing I know to expect for this season is for the zoo to overreact to every little win and loss.

I'm not sure, majority on the football board are apathetic at this point. The media outlets are hyping us up once again, but nope I'm not falling for it. Not gaining any hope.

I'm not exactly apathetic. I still watch the games and follow the team. It just doesn't affect me anymore when we lose. That was a steady transition that started around 10+ years ago. Losing used to put me in a bad mood. I no longer have expectations about how good we should be. We're a meh program historically. 8 wins is a success. Anything above that is gravy.

if it were only one game BAS would not be a thing. it's decades worth of one games here and there that add up. i still watch all the games and will never quit.

2005 - Iowa State

We lost 42-14 at home to the Cyclones, but don't let that score fool you. The game wasn't nearly that close. Ags were 5-2 coming into the game and at the make-or-break point of the season. We got manhandled at Kyle Field and did not win another game the rest of the year. And it's not like ISU was all that great that season. They finished 7-5 (only 11 regular season games back then) with only 2 wins over teams that finished the year with a winning record. Iowa State did not play the 3 best teams in the Big 12 South that year...OU, Texas, and Tech...and their non-conference opponents were Illinois State, Iowa, and Army.

I have followed and occasionally enjoyed A&M football in the years since, but that day absolutely broke my spirit. I had been going to Aggie games at that point for 30 years (my first game was in 1975 when I was 6 years old) but I threw in the towel that day. I even survived the 77-0 game in 2003, the Torbush WOW! vs. Utah, the loss to Baylor, and the Cotton Bowl no-show vs. Tennessee games in 2004. But the way our team and coaches absolutely quit vs. ISU in 2005 was where I drew the line in the sand.

Ever since that day, Aggie football has been a recreational activity for me, at best. I still enjoy other A&M sports, but football is just a "meh" time of the year for me these days.

Auburn last year was the nail in the coffin. Beat a clown shoes 5-7 team to secure a spot in the SECCG? Nah, here comes a 21-0 deficit in the 1Q, and a blown lead at the end of regulation to force a 4 OT loss.
After that I knew we'd get worked by the sips and likely lose the bowl.

Final blows for me we Ags v Tu last year in football and us getting swept in baseball. These were only the cherry on top of NIL, opt outs, early outs to NFl, and the real problem: Not coaches but the curse of the A&M culture . And finally, BAS from years and years of mediocrity. I like Elko. But good coaches can't overcome it. I'm done.

I'm not apathetic, but I have learned to expect mediocrity and hope for excellence. My excitement level fluctuates, but I will never lose interest.

It's not any one game. It's decades upon decades of mediocrity. Watching us light mountains of money on fire while schools all around us actually win things of significance also doesn't help.

Coastal Carolina is on the verge of getting their 2nd natty in baseball in the past decade. I'm wondering when we will get our 1st in any of the big 3. The constant underperforming in football will some of the best possible resources is honestly amazing at this point.

It's always been the sport we support and invest in the most, and it will more than likely always be that way. Yet we just never live up to expectations, therefore I'm no longer having any. If we win, good and I'll celebrate. If we lose, oh well.

These threads are insanely pathetic. What other fan bases are spending their summers drowning in misery?

If all that's left of this board are shot thread subjects and the same 10-20 bleeders, shut it down.

Easily the sip game

@ home, a spot in Atlanta on the line, couldn't get an inch of movement on the oline, kept running straight up the middle knowing we couldn't get an inch, & our dline w 3 nfl draft picks loafed & refused to set an edge

Just a complete failure w zero excuses

Loss at Auburn last year was inexcusable. Horrible defense at the end of regulation. Our NFL-bound DLine didn't show up to get sacks. We played soft on defense instead of aggressive and let it go to OT. Elko should have intervened and applied pressure on defense . Pathetic
A&M....give us room!

There isn't another fan base that spends money and hadn't seen the results loathing like our pathetic group. They're expecting and hoping for a good season. This loser **** is a damn infection.

It sadly makes the entire situation make more sense. Grow some ****ing nuts. Yall aren't spending the money anyway so why do you care?

Not sure I can think of a worse team performance at Kyle Field in my 50 years of following A&M football. The Arkansas State and App State losses are certainly up there, but ISU just toyed with us for 4 straight quarters.

The 1995 win at Kyle over SMU was fairly pathetic as well - had to win on a semi-Hail Mary. But at least it was a win.

Don't let any of them lie to you. It was the Texas game. It's why we never need to play them (unless victory is guaranteed). We have too many people that base the entire season on how we perform against them.

1975 A&M vs Arkansas. Ags were undefeated at 10-0 and laid a 31-6 turd and then lost to USC 20-0 in the Liberty Bowl. My enthusiasm for Aggie football diminished from then on.

Posting this question is like surveying fish and asking at what point did you decide water is not for you. Everyone here is a degenerate fan just waiting for the 3-4 game win streak to push all their chips in.

This.

The longhorn game is where I confirmed that we had squandered any possible advantage this program could have had over the past 10 years and that things will simply never change.

I've been an Aggie fan watching games since 1982, and hold two degrees from Texas A&M. The program is never going to amount to much more than a 10 win season every 10 to 12 years.

Too many stupid or corrupt people involved. One of the two.
Either I will find a way or I will make one.

I'm not apathetic bc of any one game. Once you've followed this program long enough you become numb to the pain.

I don't really care too much about following recruiting or spring ball anymore though. With the open transfer portal and NIL there isn't really a point.

I have heard a lot of people over the years say this exact same thing about Aggie football. The nail in the coffin was Iowa State. I think a portion of the older generation experienced something that day that made them quit the program.

Not one game, but years of the team not getting better from day one. We always seem to top out at game three to get your hopes up, then stay at that level going forward. All this while other teams get better. Thats why we lose to both Miss teams in Oct. every year.

Really all I want is to see a team playing better by the end of the season vs worse. No matter the record. Just want to say, "that team got better each game".
