Well, I was a bad Ag one time when I skipped Yell Practice and stayed with my girlfriend, in the back of a friends' van, parked next to Kyle Field. With the yells in the background I felt I had a lot of support.

I was broke so a fancy date would have been just going out. Lol

Phil Springer was the franchisee of the McDonald's across from Zachry and it at one point was one of the busiest lunchtime McDonald's in the U.S.

At night it was quite a bit slower and we had a request one evening to host a special date night complete with limo arrival, tuxedo-dressed server, and appropriate table cloth and serving ware for a traditional McDonsld's meal. It was very cute but I confess it wasn't my invention!!! I just worked there!!!

The fanciest dates I remember were all at my place. I cooked. Nicer than anything I could pay for, and it made a statement about what I brought to the table, literally and figuratively.

People always mention that place, but went there when I was at A&M and it was like eating frozen tv dinners. Was not good.

Never said it was top notch. On par with Olive Garden. But it was the only "fancy" place in CS back in the 80s

Which I was fine with. The hole in the wall places had better food anyway

Our favorite date place was the Deluxe Burger Bar.
