They have talent but not tons of experience and no time playing together on either side on the line of scrimmage . I agree a preseason # 1 ranking is bs.

texas #1
Replacing Ewers with Arch.
Replacing Kelvin Banks, Jake Majors, Hayden Connner, & Cam Williams as starting OL.
Already lost Andre Cojoe - was competing for starting RT this year.
Replacing Matthew Golden, Isaiah Bond, Silas Bolden, Johntay Cook, Jayden Blue, and Gunnar Helm - that is 6 of their top 10 receivers.
Not even sure what they're replacing on defense.
But sure - preseason #1.

Why is Ohio state ranked so high? Look what happened to Michigan the year before. I think they lost a ton of players. It'll be interesting to see to see how far that loser falls

They going to end just like the Vols with Manning. Lots of hype but not winning anything.
like he was last year? Lolrootube said:
Probably because they were the only SEC team to make it to the semifinals last year. This combined with the belief that Arch Manning will be an improvement over Ewers. Which honestly seems plausible at this point.

I am confident we will be much better and be in the CFP. The CFP is the only thing that matters. My prediction for the teams to make the CFP
texas, GA, LSU, A&M. If there is a 5th, I would put in S. Carolina. I have zero faith in Deboer.
It's contingent on Manning being a good QB. Most people believe he is/will be….and if he is, I can't really disagree. In 3 years they have amassed as much talent as Georgia and Alabama. If Manning is just slightly above average, they're a championship contender for sure, unfortunately.

Hopefully 9th in SEC pisses our players off. It should. I honestly think we are much better than 9th.
Considering roster losses how are South Carolina. Ole Miss. Tennessee, and Florida ranked above us?
This is some great bulletin board material for Elko, especially since it is Coaches poll.

Well.... You hope so, anyway

Hey at least we are ranked.
OU is not on the board, which is very surprising!

I'm not worried about either of those games bc we will show up ready to play. We were not ready Vs Auburn last year bc everyone was looking ahead to the sips the next week.

They want that first game to be 1 Vs 2. That's it.

How much longer does Ol' Brett get in Norman? Seems like his days gotta be numbered given the lack of success OU has had (and will not have) this season.

Their o-line losses have to hurt.
Arch will be way better than Ewers.
Upgraded at TE.
Bond and Cook were big disappointments.
Blue will be missed for his HR speed.
People are only now seeing how good Golden was, he will be missed.
Baker probably starts over Cojoe, but now depth is shaky.
Summary they will be fine at qb and wr, but o-line is a big issue. RB is hard to say.
On defense they lost the Thorpe winner in the backfield. Lost some good DTs, but spent all their portal focus on DT. I expect a similar defense as before. Not better, not worse.

iF that is true, it shows a major failure on our coaches part. Everyone knows you don't look ahead to big games. Coaches know to drill that into the heads of players. This is especially true when you have sucked on the road and have a road game.
It might make you feel better to say we lost just because the team looked ahead, but that likely isn't true and if it was, it is just as damning. We just haven't been a good road team. Elko needs to fix that.

Number 21 doesn't sound too bad for 8-4 or 8-5 with the bowl thrown in.

I know we do what we do but objectively we have a top 5 talent level and even with doubt, a top 10 team.
Temper that and rank us with caution in the 11-15 area. 21 is a joke.
