Bulked up to 265. We expect him to be a DE we bring in for certain situations.

Bussey switched from DB to WR fairly close to the beginning of last season, so he was still learning the position last year as a true freshman in the SEC. He was also a QB in high school, so WR was brand new to him. I expect he'll take a jump this year. Kid is extremely talented and very hard working.

TBH, he showed some flashes of being a good multi-purpose weapon maybe along the same lines of an Ainias Smith. But not a 5-star freak like Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith or Alabama's Ryan Williams.

We may have to temper expectations.

Not every five star is immediately going to be one of the top players in the country his freshman year. I'm expecting a big jump from him this season.

He also came from a very small school where he played QB. Huge learning curve for him last year, but he does have a very high ceiling.

This is the year you would expect him to make a big jump. We will see. By all accounts he will be a starting WR.

Bussey is a true sophomore. He contributed a ton as a freshman. I'd say he is on track to have a great career despite your hang up about Christian Kirk. What a weird thing to say?

they may implement some of this but between bussey and conception you have two wr who can do a little bit of everything including wildcat qb. i hope they use them both in outside the box ways. the potential is there for some creativity.

He has now been compared to Christian Kirk, Jeremiah Smith & Ryan Williams on this thread. These are three 5 star players who were expertly skilled at the craft that it takes to play the WR position coming into college.

Bussey was a QB/DB who is a freak athlete that we needed to get on the field because WR athleticism was lacking drastically when Elko took over.

Give. It. Time.

Kid is going to be unreal. Just give it time!

His experience at DB is going to help him at WR too. Can't remember which game it was last season, but he knew he couldn't get to the ball and knocked it out of the defenses hands to prevent an interception by Reed. Very heads up play.

He didn't play much last year but when he did he always produced. Kid is a true athlete just raw talent at anything he does

He went to Timpson which is close to some of my family, local sports hero

If he doesn't get mentioned as a breakout player during camp by the Aggie media, then he's going to be a sure-fire breakout player.

Last year he looked like he needed to drop about 10 pounds. He definitely lacks burst and elite speed. Hopefully he can be more explosive for us this year.

Doesn't help when there are only 3 plays to get him the ball and every defense we play against knows what they are.

So you know the 2025 playbook?

Great point; he doesn't give up on plays like some past players, & his football acumen will only increase with experience & coaching.

Being the next Ainais Smith is certainly not a bad thing (All-SEC, NFL pick).

The aforementioned "freaks" were just that from day one in college ball. Just a different level of athletic "twitchiness" and explosion. Myles Garrett, Derrick Henry, Patrick Peterson - more samples of 5-stars that simply jumped out of the screen when you first saw them on the field.

Based on his size, he has to rely on his speed and solid route running to be effective. Learning the offense is key. He's a smart guy, so will be in great shape to have a good year this season.

Not hating on him, or ainias, or you. Just saying anyone who expected freshman Kirk, Smith, Williams, or anything close was doing themselves a disservice considering Bussey and his situation had zero in common with them.

Part of the problem was that, despite his nickname, he wasn't that fast.

Y'all act like you haven't seen this episode before.

We have had 1 5 star player that was truly a great player (Myles). The rest have pretty much been busts

Can't agree here. We have had some 4 star players and even a 3 star player perform at a 5 star level. Johnny being one.

But if you're implying we have seen too many 5 stars not live up to their Vanderpumper hype, absolutely
