All or Nothing
Reed is an inaccurate passer.
His 58.6 completion percentage and the ensuing film show a throwing motion that struggles to repeat. Meaning, like a pitcher's delivery in baseball, having a repeatable throwing motion is a recipe for success. For many quarterbacks, there is a mental checklist, where every part of the body acts like a kinetic chain that needs to be in place to succeed.
For example, at times, Reed's front foot doesn't always plant with the stability it needs to. As a result, the ball will drift and produce a slide-like revolution out of his hand. Auburn can take advantage. Those small breaks in technique can lead to rushed or late passes. As a result, that could be a great opportunity for their much-maligned secondary to make plays.

He's right you know.
It's concerning that Marcels completion percentage is so low considering who we've faced.

For Marcel this story is only about half correct.

* When given time to set his feet and align his body & mechanics correctly -
Marcel is Very Capable of throw a tight spiral into a tight window -
Anywhere on the field and at any distance. He can Rip It...

* It is when he is not doing these fundamentals -
do to being rushed or body out of position to the receiver target -
that he has a wobbly pass or one that sails high on him.

Thank God that KC can go up and Get It...

Essentially, it sounds like they're going to blitz like crazy and try to get Marcel to make mistakes under duress. Teams used to try that on Kellen Mond, with varying levels of success.

UTSA - 65%
USU - 68%

ND was only 46% and yet he passed for 360 yards and 2 TDs.

They will mix in some blitzing but I think they will do a ton of read and react dropping their outside LBs back right at the snap and right into the quick slant/quick in lanes to try and disrupt Craver and KC from catching and YACing those. Our tight ends should have ample opportunity to get open in the 2nd or even 3rd level.

So against real competition he is <50%. That's not good. 86 of those yards were on a fluke play by Craver.

This is an important point. That 46% HAS to improve. He had some critical misses. But at least the completions we have are big plays (both from YAC but also some true deep balls).

It's a lot more fun when we get to see our OC strategize, counter punch, and take advantage of an arsenal of offensive weapons. I'm anxious about this game, hoping our Defense fills those lanes enough and gets pressure on Arnold.

Did you watch the game?

Count how many obvious passing downs we had thanks to stupid false start or illegal motion or whatever penalties. 3- more than 6 is going to be a low percentage throw.

On the last drive in the redzone he was like 2-7 with the one being the game winner and the two before it could have been game enders.

But we were behind the sticks! 4th in 12 from the 15 is a low percentage pass every time.

I realize he threw a number of bad balls… but let's not act like he was running air raid either with 15 screen pass throws either like Jackson Arnold that pad his percentage

Same for the early games, he was working on down the field throws not perfentage

So we win because Jackson Arnold is also an inaccurate passer right? If he connects with Coleman on a couple of those deep shots they beat OU going away.

Who won the game? I'll take 46% for 360 2/1 all day in a win on the road in a hostile environment. His two home games he's averaging 66%. Where is the game on Saturday?

You think he can duplicate that every time when he throws at 46%?

What's funny is that the game plan to defend Auburn is similar. Make the QB make decisions. Their quarterback doesn't go through his progressions any faster under duress ending in sacks. Reed just throws the ball away. What would you rather have: balls thrown in the stands or taking a sack?

Screen. Screen. Screen. TE. TE. TE. Throw to the non-blocking back, too. Keep 'em honest.

Blitzing Reed is dumb and I doubt they do it. He isn't that accurate. Drop into coverage and make him hit tight windows. We've got some WR who bailed him out on bad throws last game, but throwing high over the middle of the field is a recipe for interceptions

Maybe. Go through the ND film and count the number of long passes that got dropped. If you get all of those yards, the game is probably somewhere in the 500-600 range. If we are saying that roughly half of those are caught, then we are not too far from duplicating that number.

Yes, Marcel is not accurate. He never will be.

We will still win this game!

btw, Auburn is 91st in the nation in pass D.

We are going to roast them alive. To have any chance, they will have to play cover 2, which will allow us some success on the ground too.
