Army training themed reality show on Fox.

He's off to a rough start, making Day 01 look harder than necessary.

Looks a bit outta shape. Will be interesting to see if he can grind thru it.

He looked good repeling out of the helicopter, but tough to watch him after that. Hope he perseveres

He's gotta outlast the chicks and Jussie Smollett, right?!?!?

Amazing to see him one on one with the DS's. Admits to throwing away his dream and giving up on himself. Said there was a time where he wanted to end his life and now he wants to turn that around. I know it's reality tv but hopefully he gets a redemption arc

Johnnys a wildcard. If he gets his mind right, he'll win this thing. The question is can he tap into that headspace. Prime Johnnys mental fortitude is in there somewhere.
Give me the guy who shoots for excellence and fails over the guy who shoots for mediocrity and succeeds.

Agreed. We know he's a competitor. If he gets his mind right, it will be fun to watch him do well.

Maybe this could be the thing that helps him dig deep and find that Johnny Football "leave it all out there" mentality

I love that he is wearing number 12. I hope he does well. I believe he was sincere when he said he was humbled. Maybe this will be the therapy he truly needs to help him believe in himself again. I liked what he said about coming in knowing what it feels like to be already be a failure so he can go up from here.

Candidate #12… Whoop!

Those crafty show editors… they are good mixing words with camera opps to keep one guessing.

Seemed to me that they are either setting him up for an earlier than hoped for exit or he digs in and lasts for a while.

Agreed with the comment from a bit earlier… doesn't look like he was physically topped off and ready from the shots we got to see, but Day 01 (and beyond) is going to physically beat down any celebrity that wants a piece of the SF world.

Will be tuning in next week to pull for Candidate #12!

He was in Vegas looking at 6 figure watches and gambling per his IG the other day.

Not saying it means anything on its own, but I'm with his history, it brought back the memories of past bad decisions for me.

He likely swallows a lot of aggression... along with a lot of Belt Busters!

This was probably filmed months ago.

Why would any of you think Manziel will do well? His only success in life occurred when he completely outclassed his comp. The second anything gets tough he heads out to Vegas with an 8 ball, a 50 buck scooby costume and an "insta" model.

At this point Manziel is famous for being famous. Is there a list below d list?

Correct - I was replying to people saying he may have used this show/learning experience to grow.

Since the shows done filming, I made an observation about his current behavior. It felt a lot like what old Johnny was doing which was not grinding with a purpose. It could be a one weekend escape or the same challenges from the past.

I don't know him so I can only go off what I see from his social media/news.

Well, I started this thread - always rooting for Johnny's success liek before - so here's how it played out.

In episode two of Special Forces: World's Toughest Test, Johnny Manziel was not kicked off the show, but voluntarily withdrew from the competition. This occurred after a heated confrontation with the directing staff (DS) during a difficult challenge involving being submerged underwater in a simulated drowning scenario.

Here is a breakdown of what happened:

Failed underwater challenge: The recruits were required to escape from a submerged plane fuselage while blindfolded. Manziel panicked during the physically and psychologically grueling task, repeatedly failing to free himself from the sinking fuselage.

Confrontation with the DS: After the challenge, DS staff member Mark "Billy" Billingham questioned Manziel's commitment and pointed out his failure to help fellow recruits. The staff member criticized Manziel for only caring about himself and not having the mentality needed for Special Forces.

Choosing to withdraw: Following the intense verbal confrontation, Manziel opted to leave the show. He explained that his time on the course helped him realize he needed to prioritize his relationships with his family and that the stress of the process was not for him. He told the staff, "I think there's a different fight for me to be fighting. I'm choosing to fight it with my family and my loved ones, not with this".

Some people will say that the network got exactly what they wanted out of his involvement.

And they would be right.
Doesn't absolve Johnny of any of his issues but these types of shows are 100% exploitative.
These are to today what the day time talk shows were to the 90's.

I think JFF has always had a touch of ODD (opposition defiance disorder). He really hates being ordered around. At no time was this a challenge for Manziel to be successful. He might play hard for a team he trusts and people he loves but not for an arbitrarily assembled team of celebrity misfits. Plus, he gives up when hard work is required...especially hard mental work.

This made me curious about Bre, and the search popped up another reality show he had a cameo in with her in it last year, Selling Sunset.
https://nypost.com/2024/09/06/sports/johnny-manziel-admits-to-cheating-on-ex-wife-in-selling-sunset-cameo/
Quote:

Johnny Manziel recalled begging, crying and pleading during his split from his ex-wife Bre Tiesi in the new season (8) of "Selling Sunset" on Netflix, which premiered Friday.

The exes had a heart-to-heart in episode six while Tiesi who's a cast member on the show and a real estate agent at the Oppenheim Group was helping Manziel find a home to buy in Los Angeles.
. . .
They split in March 2019 after one year of marriage, and reports at the time claimed that the former Browns quarterback had cheated on Tiesi.

"In the long run of things, I still won," Manziel said before Tiesi laughed. "Would you call it a loss?"
She replied, "Yeah, because you loss me, it's a loss."
. . .
"I learned a lot about what I handled wrong. I was a lost, depressed kid running around the Hollywood Hills getting drunk every night and living in a nightclub. And a lot of time behind your back probably as well."

That's when Tiesi chimed in.
"Oh you spent a lot of time with someone else on their back, but yes it's fine. Still love ya," she said.
"I still feel bad to this day treating you like that," Manziel said.
. . .
"Do you like my blonde [hair]? I wore it just for you because I know you love blondes so much. Do you think it'll help my sale today?" she said when they first met at the home.

Manziel is currently dating model Josie Canseco, who has blonde hair.
. . .

It's last year's news and apparently ended last February, but late szn JFF still has game. Kind of weird for Jose to name his daughter Josie.

Hand needs to be angled more down than 90 degrees with the gesture.

Yeah, he was completely disappointing in the first episode. When they called him in to get a feel for him, it just seemed like he was trying to tell them what they wanted to hear. Although I am pulling for him, I don't think he will ever change and will continue down his path, telling people what they want to hear but not really meaning any of it.
