Oklahoma, a seemingly bonafide top 10 team, only took down Auburn by 7 in their own house last week. And that's with the 7 points that the refs gifted them on a certified bad call.

If you're going to say "Oklahoma looks great", you have to at least acknowledge that Auburn can put up a fight.

Someone said Auburn outgained OU 303-287. We did so 411-177.

There are definitely mistakes to iron out but the performance is there.

I think Auburn is better than most are giving them credit for being. I was at the game and just kept thinking to myself that if not for penalties, this game might have ended differently. They are a good football team.

Auburn is pretty good, and we completely annihilated them. Arnold had nowhere to throw the ball. And when they ran it, the LOS got shoved 2 yards into their backfield. And when he held it, he got blown up. There were countless plays that looked like 3 - 5 yard gains that ended up as 1 - 3 yard gains because of the displacement of the LOS. The box score says AUB got 177 yards, but IDK how. They were blown to bits.

That, sir, was the greatest post in the history of TexAgs. I salute you. -- Dough

I'm assuming 80 of that was from their defense's near pick 6

I think they only had one explosive play all night to that WR

Hugh Freeze is a good coach with a good staff. He and the team were backed into a corner. They could've been very dangerous today especially with the issues w the refs. Tigers were lucky to stay within two tds

Auburn is a good team. They're just not a great team. There's been a lot of people "talking down" the wins the Ags have gotten for some reason.

For example, Notre Dame has one of the best offenses in the country. They would have beaten Miami the way they're playing now. The reason why Love barely touched the ball that game was because ND was running option plays and Miami was removing that option, Carr was making the right reads. ND fixed that after the bye by using more designed runs and it showed.

Similarly, ND's defense is not bad. It's just not as good as last year.

Both of those are things I've heard people whose supposed job is to talk about college football bring up. They're also the same people who wouldn't watch games and just look at stat sheets and say things like the Ags can't run and don't have a defense, which are both clearly wrong now.

Most people that talk ball don't know ball.

4th quarter. 1 yard.

Defense definitely stepped it up today.

We have a talent for making mistakes at the worst time. The running into the kicker penalty and the illegal lineman downfield could each have cost us the game. Clean things up a bit and we could be pretty good.

We seem to trade wins with them every other year, regardless of team strength.

I forgot about that running into the kicker. What was Regis thinking. At least try to dodge the punter No reason for that

Then to tackle a RB and pull him down from behind. Now that's terrible tackling. . Jk on that one, BS call

This is insane. They had 1 yard of offense in a quarter. Our defense played very well, but our defense isnt that good. Auburn is a train wreck that will lose at least 3 more.

D was great, enough said.

Auburn came in and loaded the box and rushed 6 at times on passing downs. They wanted to stop the run and then sell out to get Reed. If not for penalties it would not have worked. We gashed them on runs all day even when they had numbers. Passing was effective when we did not make Reed sit in the pocket, Auburn was not going to let that happen with extra rushers every time. Reed made them pay at times, so that comes to the two real issues. Play calling and penalties. Both can be fixed. Play caller hets a C. The pass on third and 1 that resulted in an INT was worth a letter grade. Run the damn ball. Play calling to start the second half was awesome. Quick passes, rollouts, runs. All geared to beat over aggressive D's. I suspect we will see this all season, and we will adjust. Penalties, no clue how to stop that. If we do, this team is damn good.

That's a bold prediction. Auburn has 2 losses and they still have to play Georgia, Alabama, Missouri, and Vandy.

I'd say all three teams have problems. We seem to be improving in some areas, though. We have a real shot at making the playoffs, and if we can fix mistakes and solidify a few things, we could be great this year.

We still need to improve on defense for sure. Auburn was awful so that wasn't a real indication of where we are.

Auburn has one of the worst QBs in all of D-1 football.
Repeatedly we tried to hand them the game and they were still not good enough to take it. Idk how anyone could've watched the game yesterday and said "you know what, that's a good football team." To make that claim is dishonest at best and a pumper take.

Aub is a good defensive team. But their offense and specifically that OL is hirrible. Arnold is not good, but that line gave him no chance to process a play for 2 weeks straight. They are middle to bottom of SEC unless they make changes up front.

No one in my circles was saying Auburn is bad. They have had better teams, but they are definitely one of the best unranked teams. It's just tough for them to have to go on the road to OU and to our house. Great D, but a sputtering O.

They get Georgia at home after a bye week this week. Since we know GA is mortal now, don't be shocked to see Auburn beat them at home. They also get Missouri at home, don't be surprised to see them beat what seems to be a good Missouri team at home. Other games they should be favored, and they get Bama at home. They really do have a season they can salvage if they can find a way to win out (and it's not crazy to think they can, though not probable).

Who knows if we would've scored on the int., but you could easily argue that was a 14 pt swing. Plus that was their only score. That was one of the best defensive performances I've seen us put on in quite sometime

Honestly, I never thought I would see a performance like that from our defense, based on anything I've seen this season. I am really interested to see if they can continue with a similar level of execution.

With how competitive every single SEC team is getting, and even smaller teams, I will take every win I can get.

Exactly. CFB at the highest level is turning more into nfl style games. NIL has created freedom and parity. You just need to win in games that matter. We've done it twice now, in 2 different ways.

It's hard to figure out the board consensus on if yards that don't = points are the sign of a good or bad offense. I feel like it changes to suit the need.

Completely agree and based on reading TexAgs seems like a concept a lot of our fan base is missing. It's only going to get worse next year with 9 conference games plus a P5 game.

Look at us and OU. We were garbage at WR last year, but in modern CFB no big deal, just go to the portal and immediately get two elite receivers. OU same thing, they couldn't throw their way out of a paper bag, but doesn't matter just go to the portal for 5 minutes and get a heisman QB. Combine that with the fact that schools are going to be able to keep their good players for longer due to money and rules (Pavia playing college into his late 30s) it's brave new world.

Could you imagine if we had Johnny in this era? He didn't give a **** about playing in the NFL he just wanted money. He would have gotten a *********PhD and played 7 seasons at A&M with the current rules.

It was a good win. Defense played their best game this year. Offense moved the ball but struggled to get in the end zone. Reed didnt have a good game.
