Elko mentioned on the Aggie Hour show at Rudy's that he recognizes the importance of marketing the football program and one of the ways we do that is alternate uniforms. I gotta give them props because the uniform reveals each week have been pretty awesome.

I'm meh on the blackout but admittedly am an old (or older at 50+), if the kids, players and recruits like it then I am all for it.

I DO like the alternating versions of maroon and white, all maroon, all white, etc. The white helmet, maroon jersey and white pants at home is absolute fire despite being an old school look.

With the team/captains voting on it if it is something meaningful and providing juice to the players, all the better.

After listening to Elko talk about the need for cool uniforms and making our program popular among teenage kids and being cool, I'm starting to think he's the only person who can get us female cheerleaders on the sideline for the Tv cameras.

Enjoying the uniform switch ups each week. The Jimbo, Fran, and sherman years got pretty stale with uniforms.

I actually really liked the gray pants of the Fran years. Sumlins alternates got too stupid.

So far Elko has found the right mix.

like the all black unis and really like the all white ones vs notre dame. unfortunately i guess i am an old, all of this extra stuff to me is contrived and corny. i know kids today like this kind of, flex type of persona/ presentation but i just don't get it. but if it helps us win which it seems like elko believe it helps us recruit then go for it.

Maybe im the minority, but I freaking love the script Aggies helmets. The all black is cool, and the helmet is great. White helmet with maroon script and vice versa would be cool too. Not full time, but to mix it up.

Pretty much every college football stadium does the same thing now, A&M included.

It really doesn't matter, recruits like the blue blood big name schools or money.

I used to be old school traditionalist, but I'm over that now.

If the players like the uniforms/helmets - I like it.

If the players like the DJ/music - I like it.

Don't let the boomers make you feel bad about the uniform changes. I'm a Genxkid and love them.

Whatever the kids want. We look like Tech though.. You adapt or you are left behind, so bust out the favorites like Oregon always has. When are we doing Neon?

There are a few "sacred" uniforms in my opinion. Penn State, Michigan, Bama, ND come to mind. A&M is not in this category. I have a HS sophmore (football guy) and he sends me stuff all of the time, Aggie unis and others. They do pay attention and it does impact who ends up on your campus.

Have fun, marketing matters, keep it tasteful and win baby win.

To my fellow GenX (and older perhaps), think smurf turf. If you don't think that was part of the Boise State buzz, and the unprecedented success they found, you are not paying attention.

It's important our uniforms not be uniform from week to week.

That's pretty dumb.
I don't love the black unis but I also don't care enough to get my panties in a twist over them.
But thumbing your nose at people who have been invested into this program for 50+ years because you want to impress a kid who may be playing somewhere else next year is short sighted to say the least.

Cue all the "but we haven't won anything so those people don't matter!" responses.

Right there with you. LOVE the script Aggies as a 1-2 games a year alternate.

I agree. The smurf turf is a good analogy for the old people in here. Do what the players want, and if they want a light show in the 4th quarter then we're gonna get them a light show in the 4th quarter.
