This post is proof that you can graduate from A&M and still be completely clueless about how 99% of the world, outside your major, works.

Without an internet search, there's a 90% chance OP can't tell me what the numbers on the side of a fertilizer bag mean, but they come on here griping about the grass.

Anyway I myself haven't noticed, but I'd expect that the quality of our turf would sort of be a point of pride for the best ag school in the country...

i'd assume that we pay an outside subcontractor to maintain our turf. is that wrong?


btw - our field looks great. growing grass in late summer in Texas is hard.

It's probably hard to keep the grass looking good when a bunch of heavy men wearing cleats and boots are running around on it for 5 hours every other week.

It's all done in house. Nick McKenna is one of the best in the country. I can assure you that it'll be a snowy day in hell before he lets Kyle Field go to pot. These posters are just looking for something to gripe about.

I know, right?

I recently got on a neurologist forum and mentioned that the top neurosurgeon in the country wasn't very good at his job.

They wouldn't discuss the topic either, even though I saw a YouTube video about it.

Which several others around the country use. I believe Bama does

ESPN's video feed for games usually makes the colors look washed out. Almost like a RAW video without any post-processing. Watch the new episode of The Pulse to see what the field looked like freshly painted and at the beginning of the game. The field looks perfectly fine

As a former Agronomy grad and a guy that used to borrow equipment from Leo and Craig for the turf research lab, I can tell you the crew is doing fine and doesn't need help. The field is in great shape and the OP should be embarrassed for thinking otherwise.

I didn't appreciate how picky he is and how much he cares until I went and did an internship for someone who gave no f's at all. I can say without a doubt that Nick makes the field crew bring their best effort every day. He's basically the Elko of grass.

He answered all my kid's questions about the grass at Olsen. That makes him a hero in this house. We do still miss Leo though.

Leo was a great boss also. he had an enormous hat collection. Sports teams and logos from everywhere. They were in our office up on shelves around the room and apparently he had a ton more at his house.

The field was painted on what, Thursday and Friday? I'm trying to remember when they posted the pics.

For the night game it had very likely been mowed again before kickoff. And it has been recently top-dressed with sand that was quite obviously still on the surface Saturday night as you could see puffs of sand occasionally.

The "replacement" that someone mentioned on page 1... The temporary field that was put down during the middle of renovation season didn't take and started peeling up underfoot during a game. THe following week that field was ripped out and replaced with a very thick cut turf that was essentially too heavy to curl underfoot.


More recently, we replaced the field after George Straight and Mexico v Brazil.
