Not a troll at all, it's weird that some cant discuss topics if they are in disagreement with them.

I agree with you. But your take on the field is G.O.A.T bad.

Honestly, the field did not look its best on TV the other night. I honestly don't think that's arguable. But even for those that do, I don't know why they took the comment personally.

So no, the take actually wasn't THAT bad. Especially given some of the totally stupid comments on here about refs this season.

This post is proof that you can graduate from A&M and still be completely clueless about how 99% of the world, outside your major, works.

Without an internet search, there's a 90% chance OP can't tell me what the numbers on the side of a fertilizer bag mean, but they come on here griping about the grass.

Why would OP need to know anything about fertilizer to give an opinion on how a field looks to him?

When I was in school and Duble still taught rec turf, our field was the envy of the sporting world. I would have to assume it's still good. Damn sure better than the Bears stadium where they play high school games multiple times in the Friday and Saturday leading to an NFL game in a non-growing season up there. Or the old Reliant grass where the retractable roof didn't allow enough sunlight

We don't have Leo Goertz anymore RIP

I see rich green grass. Unless you're talking about the endzones and the black paint not being bold, or the field taking damage from the players by the late part of the 4th quarter, I still have no idea what you two are talking about

I think our grass looks very good and seems to hold up really well each week. I did notice the black paint wasn't exactly what I would consider sharp or bright. But that could be the paint selection or who knows what.

Some field's have that super green grass that really pops off the screen, is that painted? Or is it a different breed of grass?

Depends on the field. Northern schools are usually on rye grass or possibly a type of fescue which tends to hold a darker green color than bermuda grass.

Anyone that knows **** from shinola is aware that we are in the trasition period where the bermuda is going into dormancy but we do not have the overseeded rye established yet. My guess is that will happen as soon as the Floroda game is over and we don't play at Kyle again until Nov 15. I say all that to say, it's the stupidest OP of all time.

Surprised no one has mentioned the obvious. Grass isn't legal in Texas.

Why would you pay any attention to someone's opinion who hasn't learned the first... hold on let me check.. no yeah LITERALLY the first thing you learn about in a turf management class of any kind, including the kind that Extension puts on for absolute beginners?

It's like not knowing what the US Dollar is but giving your opinion on the state of the stock market.

The field is painted for multiple days straight. Midnight black paint would have seriously weakened if not destroyed the grass as it would not able to perform photosynthesis.

Not to mention the darker the color, the more heat is absorbed and the more the grass burns mid day.

Im sure we've all seen it but why is it so bad?

Years back they had to change the whole field.

We are in college station with sprinklers and care better than almost all golf courses...

We can't paint for **** and even in the first quarter it looks like it is getting absolutely wrecked!

Unless this is a deliberate strategy, wth is going on?!

I understand the criticism but there are several factors most people never consider, as many have mentioned. I'll defend Nick on this to a degree bc he has to make decisions with a very small amount of control from the marketing side.

He is most likely using a PGR right now to limit the turf for a number of reasons. That means he has to consider how the field is painted when back to back weeks have a different field layouts and color schemes. It also has the added complication of slowing recovery this time of year.

To my knowledge, he uses a paint manufacturer that uses a formulation that has too little pigment in my opinion. I've used all the major turf paint companies and this brand is my last resort.

Painting for tv requires a modified approach and keeping an entire crew focused and working the same way is difficult at the end of the week when everyone is just trying to get done.

just an opinion from someone that's walked in his shoes and is part of that world.
