Figured this was coming. Surprised they didn't wait till after Georgia, but maybe they didn't want to give him another chance at a miracle run to finish the season.

Keep track of who tells you Elko is in the mix for that job too (like they did for PSU). Cycle over cycle the venal actors and their back-channels remain...so the attention paid here won't be wasted effort.

Let me guess, they're eying Elko too.

Actually a great point. That is probably the ONE job i couod see him leaving for- avoiding SEC and having unlikited resourcea like A&M, plus the iconic position and closer to his upbringing culture.

I don't think they'll fire him, but wouldn't be surprised to see Dabo step down at the end of the year. He kind of sounds like he's had enough and needs a break.

I'm not sure New Jersey is culturally very similar to Indiana but I would be shocked if Freeman could be poached. It will be a long time before the ND job will be open.

South Jersey/Philly and Indiana couldn't be more culturally opposite. Think college station vs Philly on steroids

Billy Napier becomes 3rd head coach to be fired after a win over Mississippi State. Texas A&M fired Jimbo Fisher was after the day after a 51-10 home win over Mississippi State on 11/11/2023, which remains our last win over an SEC or Power 4 team in the month of November. Auburn fired Gus Malzahn the day after a 24-10 road win at Mississippi State on 12/12/2020. Also, Mississippi State lost their 15th consecutive SEC game, and 2 head coaches that helped extend that losing streak would get fired the day after.

Don't think Penn state would even take Kelly's call. They fired Franklin because he couldn't win the big games and Kelly is cut from the same cloth: 5-10 against ranked opponents while at LSU and never won it all while at ND with an easy schedule and lots of talent.
