X4: SEC sack leader Cashius Howell named Defensive Lineman of the Week
He can’t be stopped.
Cashius Howell has proven that time and time again.
And once more, the SEC sack leader has been named the league’s Defensive Lineman of the Week for his performance at Mizzou.
This is Howell’s fourth SEC weekly honor this season.
Against the Tigers in Columbia, he returned to his home state and had five total tackles, one solo stop, another sack and a TFL. Howell was also credited with a QB hurry and a forced fumble.
The inevitable’s big play was a second-quarter strip sack of Matt Zollers as the Tigers were lucky to recover the fumble.
Previously, Howell was recognized as the league’s best defensive lineman after standout performances vs. Utah State, Mississippi State and LSU. Now the Kansas City kid adds another to his All-American resume.
On the year, he has 21 total tackles, 15 solos, 11.5 TFLs and 10.5 sacks.
In nine games, Howell leads the SEC in sacks and sits one sack behind Texas Tech’s David Bailey for the national lead.
