This is almost as good as getting a bye week right before we play Texas. 1st string likely won't play much past the middle of the 2nd Q if both sides of the ball take care of business. Would you rather play LSU or Auburn the week before tu instead and go into the tu game all banged up?

go follow sark and sips if that important to you as they are complaining that they didn't sched cupcake late and their sched is unfair (although adimitting sched setup yrs in advance and forcing games to fit SEC).

The irony is that the sips are even bigger cupcakes off the field. But that's the prerequisite for ATX.

As Kiffin recently pointed out with regards to our current record: there's no reward to scheduling "hard" games.

Destroy a Cupcake or win against a Top-25: the reward is the same so why add unbeneficial risk?

SEC helps its tv partners with early season conference games. They have as long as I have watched the conference (early 90s)

Should be playing them the week after the red river okie/sip lovefest.

After he said last September how much smarter it was to schedule all the OOC games early, now he's *****ing about it.

Yes, but I wouldn't typically call our rival -- especially when they have a decent record and are playing at home -- a cupcake.

And I wouldn't call anyone who pays for calls and throws garbage to get their way a "rival".

It's one of the things about SEC scheduling that annoys me. When other conferences are playing meaningful games late in the season-in the SEC, we are playing cupcakes. And as the dad of a member of the FTAB, it is lost opportunity (and sucks for the fans) to have the band do their most impressive, signature drill, the Four Way Cross, at a game against a team you probably had to Google to know who they are. If the last home game of the season was always against a real team, you could probably work with whoever is broadcasting the game to show even just that part of the halftime performance and do some marketing for the Corps, the Band, and the University. If the late season cupcake goes away with the 9 game conference schedule, good riddance I say.
