You can't afford to wait until after the playoffs to begin recruiting since the portal window will be closed before you get there and that leaves your roster getting poached while you can't poach kids whose coach stayed.
I think leaving mid season is the only way to be successful in year one.

Agreed....missed your post before I posted mine.

I don't think this is as credible as you think. Yeah it might set you back a year but with the portal a school can reload much faster. Both Bama and A&M are doing OK a year later.
