There's some really good youtube comments as well. Most are funny to read.
They also help explain some of the segments that I didn't catch first time around., Like like the Pine casket referring to Tommy Tuberville saying the only way he would leave Ol' Miss was in a Pine Box. And then he left for AUburn a few days later. https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/news/college-football/tommy-tuberville-ole-miss-pine-box-comments/

It isn't a corndog reference. It is based on the Tenn vs Ole Miss game in Knoxville when Ole Miss faking injuries and bad calls by the refs caused the Vols crowd to get angry enough to start throwing anything nearby onto the field, including mustard bottles from the concession stands

The amount and depth of their references is impressive. Lots of call backs to old issues and jokes. But some of it doesn't always resonate unless you know the background. I feel like they could do another longer episode just talking about the story behind each week.

While I don't think SEC Shorts is on the level of '70s and '80s Saturday Night Live funny, I do enjoy these every week.

So, your contention is that a show made by two random dudes on YouTube in an afternoon isn't as funny as one staring John Belushi, Chevy Chase, Dan Akroyd, Bill Murray, Eddie Murphy, Dana Carvey, Mike Myers, etc.?

Just interested to see if it beats SEC Roll Call.

And it does.

Every.Single.Week.

Nah. Not even close. But we can appreciate both. They're a different kind of humor. Shorts goes for the long run up and heavy punch line while Roll Call is more just witty one liners and quick burns. I lean towards the quick stuff myself. And Matt leans more into the culture of each team and surrounding area more IMO.

Funny episode about Lane, but my favorite is probably "We need to call Gary Danielson"

That was funny. Holy cow Gary Danielson is annoying. Almost as bad as Brent Musburger

They should've referenced using yellow golf balls - it would've been a bit more clearer to the incident.

What I love about SEC Shorts is that as popular as college football and particular SEC football are, their level of humor / insight is really niche and really funny and really well done. It makes every Monday in the fall kick off being hilarious. There's an aesthetic to the humor that just really resonates with my sense of humor; all the inside jokes and references and more than anything, a huge love for SEC football. The way they flip the switch to being emotional - Hope/UGA, Vanderbilt's win over Bama, and more than anything else, when Coach Leach died, shows a true love of the sport.

Correct. I have high standards.

I forgot that it's best to watch SEC shorts with the closed captions on.
