Define playoff success

What's everyone's view on what a successful playoff record would be? Mine is as follows

0-1 absolute failure
1-1 mild success if not blown out in loss
2-1 got to the semi finals great year
3-1 awesome we made it to the championship
4-0 ultimate goal achieved hopefully not a once in a lifetime event

Seeing as we haven't sniffed playoffs except once, just making it in is a big first step and should be considered a success.

But, now thay we're there, it depends. It depends on match ups-

For example, if we get stuck with ND, bama or ou in round 1, I'd consider 1 win freaking awesome and anything more as very successful

If we draw the go5 of the acc for round 1, then notn winning a game would be a pretty big disappointment.

I think 1 win is a success and expected
2 wins is would be super successful but probably unlikely, depending on matchups
3 wins is amazing and probably over achieving. Would be our most successful season since 1939.
4 wins and, we'll, there will still be someone here who complains about something and we will all point and laugh

It would be nice if we showed up to the first game and actually played well and were prepared.

Unlike we usually do when a game actually means something and we show up looking like we were unaware there was even a football game scheduled.

Making the playoffs was a success for 2025. Winning games is a bonus.

We were projected to finish 8th in the SEC and go 8-4.



I'm sure others will be along shortly with revisionist history to move the goal posts.

I don't think there is any dominate team this year. Not sold on OSU or IU because they played the weakest schedule of them all. Any of the top 10 teams could get hot and win it all. Teams 11 and 12 have no shot.

So I expect a win against 11 or 12 and to be competitive for 4 quarters against the rest of the field. That would be a success.

Considering making the playoffs is top 12, we need to win a game to have a top 10 finish.

Semis get us to top 5 finish.

The only outcomes that would be bad would be a loss to ACC/G5/ND/BYU. Of those I'm afraid ND could be the worst because it would give detractors the narrative that we just lucked out to get our most significant win and therefore we really didn't belong in the playoffs ie our whole season was a sham.

So, to be safe get at least two wins or, better yet, just win the whole damn thing.

Definitely need to win first game due to tu debacle. Lose in the first game and then it's yet another swan song (yes, 11-1 is a great season, but expectations reset).

Don't want a rematch w ND as think they would be better prepared, their QB has improved and they won't make the dumb mistakes of not using their RBs more.

Off on a tangent but I've seen many people think Indiana was a big success last year.

Fact is in their playoff game they were getting blown out by Notre Dame 27-3 in the 4th qtr but scored 2 TDs in last 1.5 mins to make the score more respectable.

My point is no matter what happens we need to build off this success. I want to see Ags in the playoffs every year. LFG!!!!!

I think winning 1 playoff game would be a success and expected especially as a home team. Any extra playoff win would be great. Regardless of what happens, we need to go 9-3 against next year's tougher schedule that features 10 regular season games against Power 4 opponents: 9 conference games and a nonconference game against Arizona State to prove that this year's 11-1 finish wasn't just because of a favorable SEC schedule.

If we play bama or nd and lose- makes this season end with a thud and really disappointing. To change the narrative we need to win at least one. If we lose first round we will get zero respect nationally.

I'm concerned a first round loss coupled with 8-4 next year- we will be right back to old narratives. Probably bas but still unsure about Elko long term, especially after the turd against tu.

Winning 1 game is a success in my book. We need to show that we can actually win a game when there is something on the line. I will give Elko his credit though that making the palyoffs is a good accomplishment, but if we lose its just going to be the same story as last year where we lose out our season.

So you only care about narratives and what other people state. You cannot find happiness or fulfillment following your team and what you think about them on your own merits.

Notre Dame and Ohio State are the only schools I fear. I've watched ND most of the year and that offense is next level.

We are in the playoffs. That is successful. It's all gravy this season from here. Some just want to keep moving the goal posts so they can dump on the results. We could win the natty and some would ***** over something we didn't do.

I guess I dont understand why making the playoffs is good if the goal isnt to win the playoff? Playing for an SEC title would have been nice, but im told the Texas game doesn't matter because now we are in the playoffs which are all gravy?

Will anyone except us remember we made the playoffs if we are a quick out? Does anyone care smu made the playoff last year?
