Pre-Texas game I was semifinals or bust since we'd probably have the bye. Now I'm just in the don't go 0-1 mindset.

I think we can 100% win 2 games in the playoffs but I'll be happy with an opening round win and a great quarterfinals game

0-1: wtf was that, total crap end to the season and disappointment
1-1: content and feeling good about what we accomplished when nobody thought we would
2-1: great season, we can win it next year for sure
3-1: best season in school history IMO given amount of games, difficulty of modern college football, etc
4-0: my bank account couldn't handle the amount of merch I'd buy and it'll be the season of dreams

Making playoffs is good. Especially since it's the first time we have done it. Just saying there will be those that will dump on the season if we don't win a game or two in the playoffs.

I'll be at the game if we host so I'm all in as a season ticket holder but my disappointment of a loss will not over shadow the success this team achieved.

It's been a great season. Look I'll be disappointed but will reflect back that this was a big step forward for the program.

We are in the playoffs. That is successful. It's all gravy this season from here. Some just want to keep moving the goal posts so they can dump on the results. We could win the natty and some would ***** over something we didn't do.

I guess I dont understand why making the playoffs is good if the goal isnt to win the playoff? Playing for an SEC title would have been nice, but im told the Texas game doesn't matter because now we are in the playoffs which are all gravy?

Will anyone except us remember we made the playoffs if we are a quick out? Does anyone care smu made the playoff last year?

I sure remember TCU in the playoffs but only from them producing the worst college championship game in the history of sports.

To me, the Ags just making the playoffs this year is a massive success that the program can build on. The Ags will finish the season ranked in the top 12 for the first time since 2020 and the fourth time in 30 years.

A home win would be absolutely amazing and guarantee the Ags a top 10 ranking finish for the 3rd time in 30 years.

Ultimately, I do not care if the average fan remembers A&M being in the playoffs. I care that the staff can use it as a recruiting tool and that it builds A&M's prestige in the circles that make these decisions.

The only way I quit being angry is if Ags win the natty.

I think going 11-1 and making the playoffs in year 2 of a new coach is a success in itself, given its new territory for us. We are likely going to stay at #7 or drop to #8 and have a tough game ahead of us either way (Bama, OU, or ND most likely), so I'm not seeing losing the first round as a complete failure. We aren't getting an easy draw in this playoff.

Since 99% of the zoo thought we would be 8-4 at best. This is already a success. Winning the first round is the icing and anything more is incredible.

Making it to the playoffs is a success.

1 win - good job, something to build on
2 win - very good
3 win - excellent
NC - dreams come true

If we end the season with back to back losses it's pretty bad.

Already super pumped to get the playoff berth ESPECIALLY since Tech and potentially NT are also getting it.

Now that the playoffs are here. 1 win and I'm absolutely thrilled. 2 or 3 is kind of the same to me. Then 4 is buy every A&M item on Fanatics and never care what anyone says about A&M for the rest of my life.

Players will get a lot of rings if they can win 3 or 4

We need to win one of the 4 quarterfinal bowls (orange, cotton, rose, or sugar).

I don't think there is any dominate team this year. Not sold on OSU or IU because they played the weakest schedule of them all. Any of the top 10 teams could get hot and win it all. Teams 11 and 12 have no shot.

So I expect a win against 11 or 12 and to be competitive for 4 quarters against the rest of the field. That would be a success.

Dominate is a verb. Dominant is the adjective you are seeking.

Got to win the first one at Kyle, after the beat down we got at tu. If we lose the last two games, it will look like we are just choking dogs who fold up at the end and can't finish.

What's everyone's view on what a successful playoff record would be? Mine is as follows

0-1 absolute failure
1-1 mild success if not blown out in loss
2-1 got to the semi finals great year
3-1 awesome we made it to the championship
4-0 ultimate goal achieved hopefully not a once in a lifetime event

4-0

As a player, success is winning it all. Why would you play the game if you think 1-1, 2-1, etc., is being successful.

If the players/coaches are breathing a little easier because they've broken through a barrier (I don't think they are) by getting into the playoffs, maybe I can understand that to a point. However, I firmly believe they DREAM / WISH / WORK THEIR ASSES OFF knowing they can win it all.

In my humble opinion there's no true dominant team this year in the playoffs (again, I think we played a bad game against tu--which we've been capable of doing all season--and are capable of beating anybody in the playoffs). I believe we match up well, player-to-player / coach-to-coach against any team in the playoffs. We do have our strengths and weaknesses, but I believe we could/should win it all.

How many championships did you win as a player or were you just a big failure?

Schedule gets considerably harder the next couple years so we need to go all the way this year.

Predictions for next year are not reliable
Nobody thought
Nuss, Sellers and Lagway would lead their teams to being in the bottom 1/3 of the conference and would have exactly 1 win over non bottom feeders

ASU probably easier opponent than ND
UT Vols might be really bad
UK should continue to be bad
OU is beatable
tu at home
USCe, LSU, & Mizzou I do not expect to be better
At bama is a problem
an extra SEC game which everybody has makes the schedule harder
4 home 5 away is unfortunate all in all the schedule is manageable

Well, as a junior in high school our high school team won a State Championship (was all state on that team).
Made the conference playoffs at St. Mary's University in San Antonio.
I played on the '85 TAMU baseball team but missed the conference tournament.
I played one year of minor league baseball (was drafted in Junior College).

I didn't make it to the major leagues but had fun. I wouldn't call it a big failure though. What does your resume look like?
