Dont blame ND at all for being ticked

Committee has ND ahead of Miami because it thought they were better.

Then because of a game that should have no bearing at all on ND, pressure from outsiders about their rankings, and a desire to force a conference into the playoff they reverse course. It's like officials changing call for texas when fans delayed game by throwing trash on field.

I get people do not like ND and this isnt about whether they should have been behind Miami in the first place.

This result is unreal. Travesty for the sport.

Need a monster push for just letting computers rank using objective criteria. That is all we need. We dont need these big decisions being made by people that are not even watching the games.

I'm not blaming the committee. I'm blaming ND for playing a soft schedule and losing to the only two strong teams they played.

Maybe a travesty for Notre Dame but surely not for college football.

It's time for ND to get with the program and stop being given special treatment.

Yeah the ACC championship game had a crazy ending. Virginia trailed by 10 with 5:02 and forced OT. Then in OT Duke went for it on 4th and goal and scored. Virginia then threw an INT and the game was over. If Virginia wins then they're in the playoffs and the ACC has their representative so the Ags would have been hosting ND instead of Miami. The unlucky Irish.

ND gets unlucky with an NCAA football selection of any kind for the first time in recorded history and respond by acting like a petulant child that's holding its breath.

Don't blame them for being pissed, but I don't agree with them either. They're no different than the 3 or 4 teams left out that feel this way every year on selection Sunday.

ETA - except that the other teams left out every year aren't so entitled that they decline their bowl games like spoiled children.

Here's how you don't get bumped out by a Bama team that craps the bed in their conference championship game. Join a conference and play in a championship game too. Had they both played in a championship game ND would have been in over Bama. This is a problem they chose to have.

" letting computers rank using objective criteria."

That already exists. The computers are in Las Vegas. They will never allow that as 8 spots of the 12 teams will go to the SEC.

Nope. I have zero ***** to give about a Blue Blood finally being treated like every other non-blue blood team. The only thing that would have made this better is Alabama being left out in the cold also.

The team that replaced ND beat em except they did it at Miami. Its gonna be hard to beat Miami but extra hard to beat ND twice in the same year
Otherwise as they say "Thems the breaks".

At first the committee came for ND but i was quiet cause...well, it was ND, then....

You get the point. This isnt about ND. Yes, this is a travesty. Just look at it for what it is. It is wrong. One team jumps another when neither team played.

If we'd had any sort of common sense mechanism to cap non-power 4 teams at one, (i.e. Tulane in/JMU out), Notre Dame would be in.

The committee did do them wrong. They should have had the foresight to factor the head-to-head matchup in their initial rankings. To switch them with Miami on an off week for both schools is B.S..

But I've been following college football forever, and this is literally the first time I can think of that Notre Dame hasn't gotten a favorable draw in whatever system was being used.

Bama doesn't belong

But conference championship games make money. So the committee had to preserve them.

Make no mistake though. If A&M was in Bamas spot we would have been left out

Tulane and JMU dont belong in the CFP, but neither does Notre Dame.

They were ranked in the AP Poll #15 after starting 0-2 and everyone was moister than an oyster saying that if they won out they would be IN.

That's a joke.

What other team would get that kind of benefit of the doubt?

It certainly wouldnt be Texas Tech or A&M.

You're right. Tulane and JMU both don't belong. However, the non-power conference members have always been given a seat in the playoffs. This year they get two. That's my issue.

Why don't JMU and Tulane belong? I don't think it's crazy for the top 5 conference champions to have the auto-bid. No matter how many teams are in the CFP, someone will be pissed off. Having a team left out that lost to two of the playoff teams shouldn't be a reason to totally change the process. The issue I have is with the BS the committee talks about. They talk out of both sides of their mouth.

Bama is in. If we replace them A&M is still in just sitting at #9 and playing OU instead of Miami. Whats your point?

I don't blame them for being pissed.

I do blame them for acting like petulant, spoiled, entitled children.

Yea…it's perfectly fine to be upset. But at some point, an adult has to step into the room and tell them to sack up, behave like grown ups, and go bust your butt to win your next game.

How the hell is it a travesty that when two teams that have the same record the one that beat the other gets a playoff spot?

Stop and think about what you're saying. Last weeks rankings don't matter.

By not joining a conference and losing two games, Notre Dame was at the mercy of the committee. Lose fewer games or win a conference title. This is their own fault.

But why were they ranked ahead of Miami one week ago. Neither team played this weekend. None of the bowl results should have had ANY bearing on how those two were ranked. Completely arbitrarily Miami got moved above Notre Dame in the last ranking. If the committee thought Miami was better or more deserving, they should have moved them ahead of Notre Dame previously. I have no problem with Notre Dame not making the playoff. I have a huge problem with the fact that the College Playoff Committee is a complete joke and it is a prime example moving Miami ahead of Notre Dame in the last ranking when neither team played a game.

I'm.glsd ND got booted. They should never have been ranked above Miami in the first place. That's on the committee.

The committee needs to be replaced with a computer algo.

ND should join a conference. If not, they a don't get to participate in the playoffs.

I'd also like to see G5 conferences play their own CG. They don't belong with the P4.

Lots of stuff wrong with the current system.

I'm glad ND thought they were in the past month so we did not have to watch them cry like Texas begging to be placed in the playoff ever since they lost to Georgia.

I've seen 4 year olds react more rationally.

I can blame Notre Dame. A&M was in a similar situation 5 years ago getting snubbed in favor of Notre Dame. And we didn't throw a hissy fit.

Notre Dame's reaction was rash, in retaliation, and was obviously out of anger.
