I think the real advantage will be Miami having to play a game at elevation.

We all can agree on the reasons 11:00 are not as loud, however we can also agree we've never been in the playoffs so all bets are off in terms of "not as loud". 12th man will be rocking

We absolutely got jobbed on the time slot (and the seed) but one would think that the sheer importance of the game would negate the early start

The second half of the South Carolina game had amazing atmosphere at that was an 11:00 kickoff.

I think a big part of the reason 11 am games are less intimidating is because they are normally against no-name opponents and we come out looking tired and fans are less engaged.

But have we ever played LSU, Texas, Alabama, etc. at 11 am? Not that I can recall...it is normally Louisiana Monroe or a deflated 4-8 SEC team like South Carolina.

Wasn't Mizzou an 11 am game last year? And we beat them like a drum.

Fans (including myself) will be there and be rowdy. I assume the team won't be looking past a playoff matchup the way they would a team like Samford.

Our games against Texas were almost always the early game, at least in the SWC/Big12

Night time, lights on, loud crowd....it just feels different than a loud crowd when it's during the day.

But the "intimidation" is purely relative to the noise and the setting.
We don't need fans going full jackass, starting fights, throwing stuff at opposing fans/players, etc. etc....

That's not intimidating....that's just stupidity and being an azzhole.

I did a little digging and the last time we played Texas at 11 am was in 2006, we won 12-7.

It is the first Texas game I remember watching as a child.

People don't realize that the noon sun absorbs sounds much more than light produced by artificial means. Therefore, the noise from 108,000 yelling Aggies at 11:00 am is not as intimidating as a 6:30 pm game.

They should adopt tarleton states idea and have dollar beer for the game. I think we could make that place extremely hostile.

"Is it because most people haven't been drinking all day at a tailgate and aren't boozed up and therefore more likely to be loud?"

This is why. And they are thinking of death valley...because a stadium of cajuns on a bender is their model for intimidation. Not a good comparison or model, mut there it is.

Elko thinks it will be a crazy atmosphere due to playoff game, but think he's talking about it to try to hype up A&M fans (he's mentioned it too much) and market it as think know tough time to play.

Yes, we played at LSU at Kyle Field at 11 AM in 2012 and in Baton Rouge at 11 AM in 2023. No, we have never played Alabama at 11:00 AM. We have played Alabama at either 2:30 PM or at night.

People think 11 AM is less intimidating because they are just waking up at that time on weekends

1998 Nebraska was a day game. Zone was under construction so only had around 60,000. It was loud and crazy. Had a construction worker leading yells from the zone as we were making our way out at the end.

What about Missouri last year. Old Drink and his QB said the same thing Akon of you are saying. Their first three plays from scrimmage were penalties because linemen were jumping early.

I will be all that I can to give those Southern Flurida slums hell and y'all should all be right there with me!

But seriously, I think it's overrated about it being a disadvantage, especially with how we **** the bed against SC. If that doesn't have these boys fired up and focused, Elko shouldn't be the coach!

Because we've been to games at 11 am and Have seen how they compare to other times.

So you've been to an 11am game in December? His point of the time of year is valid.

I've been in November when it's colder than the 75 predicted for next week.

So, you've never been to an 11am, home playoff game at Kyle in December. But whining 12 months a year you've done. Got it!

Pointing out what is common knowledge is not whining.

This game is going to be crazy loud & a great environment. It would be a better environment at night. Sorry that hurts people's feelings.

So we'll reach the daily high at 11am, and it's not a playoff game, just another game?

One of the loudest games I've ever been to was a day game in Kyle Field. Alabama 2013. Probably was the 2:30 game. Can't remember but I expect this to rival as one of the best atmospheres in Kyle field history.

It was 2:30, I know cause I was there as well. I can vividly remember the shadow effect on the field as JFF threw the long bomb to Mike Evans and the place just erupted

3rd deck almost collapsed

it's the psychology that, at night in the dark, nothing exists outside of the stadium lights. the game is the sole focal point. who likes watching a movie in a bright room?

aside from that, common sense. you can argue that day games can be really good. but it's pretty hard to argue the same games wouldn't be more hype at night. it's science. the only people on the planet who support day games are sober people in winter climates.

ABC/ESPN selected our home playoff game for 11:00 AM to avoid competing with 2 NFL games, and TNT/HBO Max is airing that day's other two playoff games that feature one Group of 5 team each.

Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Commanders: 4:00 PM on Fox
Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears: 7:20 PM on Fox

NFL Scores - Regular Season Week 16, 2025 - ESPN

Tulane at Ole Miss 2:30 PM
James Madison at Oregon 6:30 PM

I understand that it makes sense to air the most competitive playoff games without competing with NFL games, but I wish the time slots for our game and the Alabama vs Oklahoma game were switched. A Friday night game for a historical home playoff game would have been even better.

Someone with the paid level of Chat GPT ask it what our record is vs Power 4 teams at home in 11am games vs other times since, let's say, we joined the SEC. I tried with the free version and it got stuck.

I looked up the times of our SEC and Power 4 Nonconference home games since 2012. We are 32-23 in home games against Power 4 teams since joining the SEC:

2012-2017: 9-14 (8-14 SEC) under Kevin Sumlin
2018-2023: 17-7 (16-6 SEC) under Jimbo Fisher
2024-present: 6-2 (6-1 SEC) under Mike Elko

We actually are 10-3 in home games against Power 4 teams with 11:00 AM kickoff, and 22-20 against Power 4 teams during other kickoff times:

2012-2017: 3-2 (3-2 SEC) and 6-12 (5-12 SEC) during other times under Sumlin
2018-2023: 5-1 (5-1 SEC) and 12-6 (11-5 SEC) during other times under Fisher
2024-present: 2-0 (2-0 SEC) and 4-2 (4-1 SEC) during other times under Elko

I decided to do another breakdown from 2018 because Sumlin went a horrible 8-14 in SEC home games, and we have been much better in SEC home games since 2018. Since 2018, we are 23-9 (22-7 SEC) in home games against Power 4 teams, 7-1 (7-1 SEC) during 11 AM kickoff, and 16-8 (16-6 SEC) during other kickoff times.
