It is possible to develop further from your sophomore to your junior year. Marcel can take another jump and I'm not ready to bail on him yet. He does need to make big jumps this offseason though. He did not put on weight this offseason like many thought he would, and while his processing and pocket presence got better compared to last year, he needs to put in serious time with a quarterbacks coach who can help him with his feet. He is always ready to take off and run which is why he's so jumpy and unsettled in the pocket.

If we can even get him to median SEC QB level of accuracy, he can be one of the most dangerous QBs in CFB next year with everything else he can do.

Tech's big, fast, powerful, strong arm RS freshman QB Will Hammond. I know he's set to inherit the Raider O. but he has HUGE upside.

I just don't see a Mendoza, Mateer, or Pavia out there, but would love it if they are looking for top level talent, not someone like Lagway.

Though it may not be exciting, it's possible that the best for the team may actually be to continue to develop Marcel and Miles O'Neill. The run game needs to be strong, capable of consistently getting 4 or 5 yards on first down.

Reed cant come back as the starter if we are serious about winning.

His accuracy is awful, but the biggest issue is how he reads defenses. He doesnt throw with any anticipation at all. Instead he waits to see you are clearly open, and finally will throw it. He rushes the throws because he knows the window is going to close and we get these horrible throws. You will never be successful playing the position reactive.

The most insane thing of it all is it looks like they have burned it into him that he shouldn't run, and he is a passer which lets face it, he just isn't. I understand protecting him, but this is the playoffs, you have to put the team in best position to win, and we save seen several times now teams daring us to beat them with his arm and he is completely ineffective.

At least go get one...force some competition! If Reed is the guy next season, he better throw about 1000 balls a day till then!

Yeah, he single handily killed any chance we had of beating or tying Texas and or Miami. He is a great kid, just not a great QB. When he's relaxed, playing a team he's comfortable with, he's decent, but when it's a BIG TIME situation, he get's happy feet, throws 100mph, hesitates in the pocket, waits too long to leave the pocket, makes bad decisions, makes stupid mistakes and just doesn't perform.

We need a calmer presence to lead this team and he ain't it.

He definitely needs to improve his accuracy and 'feel' in the pocket. There are times where he makes some amazing throws, only to then follow that up with a pass that is 5 yards off the mark. Trust me, I know that the QB is not a robot and that there will be times where bad throws will be made.

From what I see he has a strong arm but lacks the ability at this point to consistently throw accurately. Add to that he appears to get tunnel vision when under pressure, things can go sideways very quickly.

Him being 74th in FBS in completion percentage (62.1%) I think just adds some perspective to the above observation.

Two years and a 1000 plus reps a season minimum. Not counting off season.

His mechanics are awful, his footwork is high school level at best, he is having the same problems he had last year and the year before.

Qbs don't improve that much after being the starter for 2 years. He is who he is. He will only be slightly better next year than this year.

We are looking at 8 or 9 wins next year if we are lucky with Marcel at qb.

It's amazing that people like you cannot see how inaccurate passing can shut down an offense as well as any defense can do. It's not just about whether a pass is complete, it's about hitting receivers in stride and allowing them to make short gains become huge gains. It's about WR screens not forcing the WR to jump, or reach down, reach back, etc. which basically nullifies the effectiveness of the play because the defenders get that extra second to be in position to limit the yardage gained. There are so many things Reed does poorly.

It's hard to throw accurately when everything you throw is as hard as you can throw it.

Both seasons he's gotten progressively worse as the season progresses. uSC game as an example. That 1st half **** show was all him.

This! It is as much about "touch" as it is about is about accuracy. Hitting your target with a bullet that's too hot to handle may be no better than missing the target.

He's a running QB - and the coaches want him to be a passing pocket QB, which he's not. He'll never be extremely accurate.

We're not winning anything with him - the only way we win with him is with Moss.

When we keep him as our starter, it again shows we're not interested in being a big time, elite program.
