Today's gameday experience: thoughts?

I've been attending games at Kyle Field for over 35 years now. The 12th Man was on full display today and I couldn't be more proud of the energy that our fanbase provided, but, something just felt "off" or out of sync.

The in-game experience has gotten progressively worse since the recent renovation. There were countless moments today when we couldn't decipher what the hell happened on the field. Plus, the constant bombardment of overly loud and unintelligible music over the PA system is atrocious.

Is it too much to ask for a little "Crush Em" from Megadeth or "Seek and Destroy" from Metallica? If they keep playing garbage from Lil Diddy Widdy & Naz8x98 & Lil Baby Diaper, I'll be happy to walk away and feel solaced that I've been fortunate enough to have the memories of going to football games in College Station before college football became a huge financial racketeering scheme.

On a much more positive note after the game, I was able to shake hands with R.C. Slocum and tell him "We Love you, Coach".

I'm a huge Megadeth fan, but nobody knows that song. Plus Dave's plan to make it an in game song failed miserably

If you watched it on TV, you'd think that yell leaders are now as irrelevant as cheerleaders, that students now take their cues from what comes out if the speakers, and that the FTAB only plays at halftime. The games now have a "game manager:" who seems devoted to minimizing the things that made A&M unique.

The crowd seemed less animated than at the SC game, though that may be because the offense provided no reason to get excited.

Agree 1000%
The game day atmosphere at Kyle is horrible.
I know they (who ever that is) are playing to the younger crowd.
The music, if you can even call it that, is garbage and way to loud.
You can't talk or hear anything but that awful racket.
Last year my wife and I were given tickets to a game I don't recall which one and left at half time due to the constant racket being blasting coming over the PA system.
Hell it took 2 days for my hearing to come back!!

You can hate the music, that's fine. It is certainly designed to appeal to a younger crowd. Songs are played at football games for exactly one reason: to get the crowd (specifically the student section) fired up, and the rap music absolutely succeeds at that. The kids love it. Pretty much one below 30 knows Metallica or Megadeth. If it was about playing great music then we might as well blast Beethoven's 5th Symphony before the walk on instead of Power but I'm guessing that's not what you had in mind either.

Please keep going to games. Kyle field looks awesome on TV. And when I get my free beer and food without waiting in a line and go back to my awesome couch … it looks even better.

NEW Kyle Field has lost it's spirit ........it's not even close to the feeling I'd get at OLD Kyle Field

Being there, this was just like any other non-conference game strictly from an atmosphere standpoint, except the music was off and untimely. (Bad day for the DJ?). Seems like we had nothing special planned for gameday to celebrate a CFP and got what we put into it. Even halftime was a yawn.

The lone in-game "highlights" were a pre-recorded shoutout from the Voice winner class of 2028 (he did well), an abrupt short video of our volleyball team, and a nice onfield introduction to the flyover pilots (lots of good Ags).

Definitely something was off. Attendance was 104k, and some empty premium sideline seats were apparent. Most were expecting 110k. Ticket prices were too high. Scalpers ate tickets for this one. Saw too many still trying to get inflated prices after the kick. Economics met Aggie football reality.

Aggies who didn't attend the game complaining about the crowd and music. An Aggie tradition like no other!

Curious that the Aggie Band appealed to the younger crowd for generations but not now…

The game manager needs to be better
Now the the 2;50 second tv timeout is here to stay we need a way to fill them better

For example the Lady Ags volleyball was good but it was not properly introduced and I guarantee lots of fans their had no idea that the FINALS were tomorrow, that the AGS were in it and the the absolutely TOP teams the Ags beat to get there

The energy was as electric as I've ever seen, especially for an 11AM kick which are usually notoriously flat. Student section was incredible.

However, the DJ playing Mo Bamba on the first f'ing defensive play was the epitome of shooting your shot too early. Save that for the 2nd half or big 3rd downs. Playing it all the time ruins it.

As for song selections, it's to get the students and athletes going.

That's because some of us remember how incredible Kyle was before the changes to the game day experience designed to make us more generic by appealing to the "average kid." Turns out what made us great was not asking kids what they wanted, but asking them to be a part of something unique.

If the athletes need music to" get them going"...

Glad I'm not the only one here that feels the same way!

Also, shout out to the 2025 National Champion Fightin' Texas Aggie Volleyball Team!!!

I actually think A&M has done a decent job at piecing together something that pulls old and new together. IDK... it also seemed like they've ramped down the buzz kill commercials quite a bit.

A lot of the audio is gibberish though. Horrible acoustics in various parts of the stadium.

That's because games are completely scripted these days.

I've seen the scripts before.

Nothing is spontaneous.

I thought the atmosphere was OK, not as intense as I would've thought but certainly good.

The actual football play was not good.

So odd that we were able to get pumped up for games and be loud without piped in music. I guess we didn't have music in the 90s and were forced to rely on yell leaders and the band.

Yep, the season is officially over when we get the old men yelling at clouds threads where the DJ and music is whined about endlessly. Ahhhhh…. feels good to be back to not having to worry about post season play anymore. Back to the important stuff.

Why were there only 104k there? Me (along with many on here) wanted to buy MANY more tickets, but were shutout. I'm just wondering how we missed the biggest crowd in history (outside of the Ole Miss game in '15). I thought it was a great atmosphere and top notch from top to bottom. Enjoyed all but ONE thing: final score.

Luckily, most Ags are smart enough not to pay those prices for that product.

I'm in 405 and that game was the very first time I heard the band more through the speakers than just hearing them naturally. Don't know if they changed something for the game or something with me but it was the weirdest thing to hear.

I had season tickets from 93-2012. This was only my 2nd game at new Kyle. Last was ten years ago.

First, just getting a ticket was a learning curve. Not finding one, but the process of transferring thru 12th Man app and using google wallet. Had to download google wallet. Bought a single ticket from a good Ag on Ticket Exchange. He offered to Xfer the ticket w/o me paying him first. Thanks iant_16!

Getting in Kyle was a breeze. Line was long, but it went a lot faster than I imagined. Technology is your friend.

Went w/ my son c/o '28 and one of his roommates. Since my ticket was on the west side, we stood on the concourse. First half we were on the 3rd deck NE corner and really couldn't see the field. Watched on the big screen. I was impressed w/ the student side. They were loud and engaged.

Second half we went to the first deck south end concourse. For all the hand wringing about the concession prices and quality, they sure were busy. Don't think Levy is going anywhere.

As for the DJ, didn't think it was too loud or too often. Guess I'm not that old after all. Found it interesting that the Miami cheer leaders had a routine ready to go during one of the songs. Overall it was a great experience. Impressed w/ the efficiency getting 100K+ in and out.

Before deciding to go, I had to tell myself to just enjoy it. The only expectation I had was having a good time w/ my son. Stayed the night at his North gate apartment and we went to Top Golf Saturday night. Got tacos at an outstanding taco truck in the shadows of a ginormous under construction high rise.

The days of uncover and people staying in their seats during game play are long gone.

In the 20 years I had tickets, I noticed consideration for fellow fans waned as the prices went up...

Also, I LOL'd at the dude that threw away his 12th Man towel as we were exiting. He threw it at a crapper can and missed on his first attempt. He picked it up and shoved it in anyway.

He probably posts here...

Glad we have a game manager and a DJ now to change everything. The place sucked before they got here.
