Early Signing Day is a long way off. Coach Elko and his staff have done a great job of signing the players who committed the previous seasons.

The end of the season is after you've gone to market…or…don't count your chickens before they are cooked.

Dobson - another 5 star - is expected to commit on July 1.

Hopefully we add at least one more 5 star with his commitment.

That we are No 1 is old news. But we also have five 5* players. We lead for 2 more 5* recruits.
Our average player rating is also the high at 91+

Elko and team have done an amazing job. Now the harder part to translate that into a Trophy.

on3 ratings.

All thanks to CEOs.

We likely had a lot of NIL available to spend with so much departing nfl talent. We have shown we do like to spend in the portal, but it's possible we lost out on some or didn't think others were worth the price tags in the transfer window. That would leave excess to go secure an elite high school class.

Or, there is a change in philosophy where our roster builders believe securing and retaining high school talent is more cost-effective in a multi-year program build than trying to secure a team full of mercenaries at a premium every single year

There is a school of thought out there to not waste your NIL on high school recruits. You'll spend a year or two developing them and then they jump to another school for more money before they even have a chance to contribute very much to you. So spend your NIL on upperclassman.

We're obviously trying to build a healthy mix of incoming frosh and transfers, but I wonder sometimes if our success with freshman isn't somewhat related to other schools pulling more of their cash from them in favor of proven players.

But hey, I've always felt (even before Elko) that we had a great "family" pitch to recruits. Play 3 o4 4 years here and the Aggie community will look after you forever.

So Elko recruits better than jimbo and does a better job of not wasting said talent.

Talent has never really been the problem. We've always gotten good players. Maybe not National Championship talent all the time, but always enough to finish in the top 20 or top 15. But results have only matched that recruiting level maybe once or twice a decade since the early 90s.

Would it be better to not even recruit high school kids? Use all money and efforts to bring in proven jr's and senoirs.

This you build a roster with High School kids and upgrade where needed with proven talent.

If we can bring in top talent from high school and retain the best ones, that's the best avenue. Then patch in 8-10 patch in 6-8 portal starters each year. Thats the best way

I don't think so. I believe there will be a balance. TBD is probably the right answer.

And I'll add this class feels so much more complete than Jimbo's 4 or 5 years ago where it felt we were just chasing stars.

I'll give Elko this. He seems to be a great evaluator of talent for his system, including attitude, work ethic, etc. It's very impressive.

In real time, that class seemed pretty fantastic.

Only after everything fell apart was it apparent it was on-paper-only, and that some of the recruits weren't very committed to actually being football players.
and the HC was too busy grinnin' and failing to develop.

So Dobbs at CB and LWC at RB.

Besides that are we pretty much done recruiting for this year?
