That we are No 1 is old news. But we also have five 5* players. We lead for 2 more 5* recruits.
Our average player rating is also the high at 91+
Elko and team have done an amazing job. Now the harder part to translate that into a Trophy.
on3 ratings.![]()

We likely had a lot of NIL available to spend with so much departing nfl talent. We have shown we do like to spend in the portal, but it's possible we lost out on some or didn't think others were worth the price tags in the transfer window. That would leave excess to go secure an elite high school class.
Or, there is a change in philosophy where our roster builders believe securing and retaining high school talent is more cost-effective in a multi-year program build than trying to secure a team full of mercenaries at a premium every single year

So Elko recruits better than jimbo and does a better job of not wasting said talent.

Would it be better to not even recruit high school kids? Use all money and efforts to bring in proven jr's and senoirs.

And I'll add this class feels so much more complete than Jimbo's 4 or 5 years ago where it felt we were just chasing stars.
I'll give Elko this. He seems to be a great evaluator of talent for his system, including attitude, work ethic, etc. It's very impressive.
In real time, that class seemed pretty fantastic.
Only after everything fell apart was it apparent it was on-paper-only, and that some of the recruits weren't very committed to actually being football players.
