Prefer 7 or 8, but really just looking for something to practice with so depending on cost, I would consider any weight. Probably Redfish mainly.

I'm down around the Brenham area. Was really hoping to pick something up inexpensive to practice with after taking a lesson yesterday, but would be willing to pay a little more if it was something that I could use down the road. Just don't want to invest too much and decide it's not for me.

You want to just borrow one? I'll be in Brenham tomorrow/Friday (currently). If you're just looking to test the waters (pun intended) you'll want to try a few to determine your casting style to help lead you to the correct rod.

It's a rabbit hole you can go way down into. I think I'm up to 13 or 14 rods now after ~10 years into the sport. I've got a TFO 7wt that just stays in my truck for that "just in case" moment, or you can use my Scott 8wt if that's what you'd like

It's a good rod. I got it as part of a deal with Winston to help them develop salt water and warm water rods. The only reason I sold it to Chocolatelabs was I later signed an exclusive contract with Orvis.

You may have a few problems with hot flyfish chicks bothering you if they see my name on it and think you are me.

This free rod is gonna be expensive but worth it….

In my opinion it's worth quite a lot if it has 87Flyfisher's name on it.
