I've got one. It's probably 25 years old and still going although I'm tempted to replace it with this one.

Mine will take some pretty thick cord. Haven't looked to see how thick a cord this one will take. Thicker is better.

They make some that can handle a wheel/saw attachment on it instead of the string trimmer attachment. Sometimes I wish I had that one.

It does take pretty thick cord. It came with some. I'm not sure how thick, but much more so than on my echo trimmer. I believe this will also accept the beaver blade attachment, which will allow it to cut saplings up to 3 inches.

Do it. You'll wonder why you didn't buy one years ago.

What do most people use one of these for?

Is it in place of a weedeater or mower?

I can see the value in having one occasionally but if you keep up the grass with a mower and weedeater this seems overkill.

I've got 11 acres and feel like I'm doing good with my shredder, mower, and weedeater.

Not being critical but just curious the usage for most people and if I'm missing out.

If you have heavy weeds, light brush, along a pasture fence line or needing to clear light brush, heavy weeds in a rocky area where a bush hog or mower can't be used these work great.
In addition they can handle chord that is about 3/16" thick compared to.125 heavy weed eater line.
It's also much easier on your body to use than a heavy weed eater all day.
Think of it as a heavy duty weed eater on steroids that has wheels.
