If you have one sitting around gathering dust, I'd be interested. I've decided I like taking them apart and making them run again. If they are running, I like cleaning them up.

I'm in Magnolia. That's between Houston and College Station.

The older the better.

I should probably add that I'm in Magnolia, about an hour southeast of college Station

I don't know if ours are Singers. I think we have two and my wife hasn't touched them in five years.

I do know a guy that makes his own electric guitar pickups and he uses a sewing machine to do the windings on those pickups.

Your wife might not be real happy with you selling her sewing machines. Especially, the next time she needs one.

My father in law got real into this. He has over a dozen now. My dad had a hundred year old singer holding open a door in a barn for years that I rescued and took to my fil. He took it apart and put it back together and the thing works perfect

I don't know your reasons but I think part of it for my father in law is there is an element of restoring a true high quality machine. A throw back to when you could buy something useful that would actually last.

Same as your FIL.

I've had my mom's Singer for about 35 years. It's probably 50+ years old. It is a great machine. Something on it recently broke, so I took it to the shop and the repair man really discouraged me from fixing it. (The shop I took it to does sell sewing machine so I think there may have been an ulterior motive involved.) But what broke was a plastic part. I'll take it to another shop and see if I can get it fixed. That said, while doing research I found that the older singers are 100% metal. No plastic parts to deteriorate and break.

I hate throw-away culture. They're not really hard to work on. I don't know that I want to keep 12 machines, though. But I do enjoy taking something that's broken, fixing it, cleaning it up, and bringing it back to life. These old machine sew beautifully.

Thanks for posting those. I need to see if I can figure out what you've got. Where are you located?

You could get a plastic part 3D printed if you can find someone that can design up a replica and print it.

Is one of those a model 15? There should be a badge on the front of it. If you can't find that, the serial number should help me look it up. Serial number is usually on the top side of the base of the machine, in front of the gold, oval Singer badge.

Can you take a pic so that the circles area like this pic is in focus and post it? Thanks!

I have an old Singer Stylist serial no 906108 in my garage with a sewing table. Does not run.

Cant post pics from my phone. Is this what you're looking for?

Edit to add: I looked on ebay to find exactly which model, and I believe it is a Special ZigZag Model 418 based on the pictures I do have.

Thank you, but no. A singer stylist is what I'm looking to replace. I loved my mom's singer stylist. But once they hit the 70s they started using plastic parts. Yours probably doesn't run because the gear is probably broke. Might want the cabinet though

I opened mine up and all the gears are metal and intact which makes the think I may be able to just fix it and use it since I think the problem is electrical.

If that doesn't play out and you're still interested in the cabinet I'll let you know.

No letters in front of the number? Could be my list is for older machines.

I have two OLD singers right now. A 1913 Model 66 and a 1937 model 128. I needed to buy new wiring for the 66. The 128 was missing the plug. I got both on Amazon!

You can look up age and model using the serial number. Here: https://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_machine_company/serial-numbers/singer-sewing-machine-serial-number-database.html

Be careful you differentiate between 6 and 7 digit numbers.

Oh, and your machine may simply need oiling. Once you know which one you have you can look up an owner's manual.

What is amazing to me is that some people are able to get machines that have been used as lawn ornaments and doorstops in barns going again. They'll seize up from rust but they'll soak them in oil and or Evapo Rust and clean them up.

This is interesting.

There is a plate on the front of the machine that reads Singer Quality Certification Serial Number, has a small J stamped on it, then lists the six digit number in the 900000's.

Looking that number up, it should be a model 15k manufactured in 1905.

It is definitely not. It looks exactly like the Special Stylist Zig Zag Model 418's listen on Ebay, which Google says have no serial number and were manufactured in 1971.

Not really a Singer, but a guy that I used to work on ugly dual sport bikes with had a huge stand up sewing machine that looked like it came off of the Battleship Texas.

He was big into skydiving, so maybe did some custom rigs with it, but he helped me re-engineer soft motorcycle luggage from Harbor Freight or Cycle Gear cause I couldn't afford the nice stuff. Pretty sure he said it could sew thick leather.

I wish I had a need for one of those in my garage.
