We've had an interim coach for 13 months. Earnie Stewart has been in his new position for 4 months. And now the players are starting to get impatient. The timeline has been pushed back to the end of the year. This is just a weird situation and doesn't make much sense.

The delays are ridiculous. We can't truly start moving forward until we know our identity, and we won't know our identity until we have a new leader.

The end result has been a slew of meaningless friendlies where we're not even sure what we're looking for. I'm glad the youth gets reps, but to what end?

Guess Pareja was just full of it with all of his talk about committment to the American player and game. Over the past 2years he basically ran off most of our American talent or actively sought out nonAmericans to replace them..and most of those replacements didn't work out.

And both are terrible moves where he will sit on the bench except for FA & EFL cup games. I feel like those teams want him more for the marketing in the US rather than actually playing him.

Yeah, I'd love to have him wearing red and playing for Klopp, but I struggle to see how he sees the field a lot with our current roster and consistent PT is what he really needs.

Seeing how arsenal is rebuilding Dortmunds attack I think we have to be in contention.

While we definitely need a winger, from what I've watched of the Bundesliga this year, give me Nelson.

I think Arsenal would be a great spot for him. I don't see how he gets playing time at Liverpool or Chelsea.

For me, it seems like we heard all this talk about change and new ideas then took a candidate who's very familiar. I was hoping for someone who'd come in and shake things up, and I don't know that Berhalter is that guy.

At the very least, we've lost a year of team development in this cycle waiting for something that seems like it could've happened much earlier.

Maybe he comes in, and shocks the world as our new manager.

But on it's face, this seems like more of the same, and such a stupid waste of time.

And it's not like he is a guy with an extensive resume' or someone whose wow'd the soccer world with results. Not sure what we're going for here.

Again, as I type this, I realize this might come back to bite me. But it just seems extremely underwhelming.

It'd be interesting to see who was considered and interviewed. We'll never see that, but it would probably help explain why it took almost a year to announce a guy that many expected would be hired from day one.

again I said I'm willing to give him a chance, but this seems like more of the same to me. I also remember people talking about how much influence Earnie Stewart would actually have in the hiring of the coach. I doubt this was his choice.

this is all just another interim solution until Bob Bradley's son Michael retires from playing and becomes the coach.

I like his international playing experience.

I dont doubt this was Stewart's choice. He's a former player and hes hiring a former player he knows well. I think the delay was in large part Don Garber wielding MLS power here. The Crew is moving and if USSF steals their manager at the same time they sit by while the franchise leaves town it looks really bad. So they waited until the season was over. Couple that with the 6 month delay in naming Stewart as the GM and you wasted a year.

I think Stewart wanted his choice all along and just didnt have the stroke needed to take him immediately.

What they could have done was name Berhalter as manager in title and let him begin to oversee the USMNT while not doing the daily work. He could have come into camps and started interactring with players much earlier and still be the manager at Columbus.
