Aggie Soccer Vs. UConn
Saturday, August 23, 8PM
Ellis Field, College Station, Texas

A&M continues its odd scheduling week with a rare Saturday game against UConn at 8PM.

UConn is currently 1-0 with just one home game in the books, a 1-0 win against Stony Brook.

Most of us probably remember what happened last year when A&M went to Storrs to face UConn...

We'll just say It Wasn't Pretty

UConn finished last season with a loss in the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament and a 14-5-4 overall record.

The Aggies haven't done much to inspire confidence thus far in the 2025 season, but I still have faith that we'll keep this one within 6 goals.

UConn finished with a RPI of 29 last year.

As mentioned above, they won their first round NCAA tourney matchup against Rutgers.

In the 2nd round they lost to eventual College Cup / Final 4 team Stanford by a score of 2-1. Uconn led 1-0 late. They gave up the equalizer with 4:03 left and the game winner with 31 seconds left.

1-1

That is a massive let down and unearned goal in a game we have controlled. Simply too cheap a goal.

one that couldnt even start at most high schools

Decent half. Diaz is as valuable as Buchanan. They are both very important parts of our attack. Fuller is a fine keeper but that error was unthinkable. Was she coached to be that far off her line with a direct kick from that distance? If so, it was poor coaching. Perhaps she just lost her focus. She is our best keeper so we should just let that one go.

I agree with everything you said. Just trying to describe what happened. Fuller has been very good and consistent in her time in the net over the past season. That was definitely not something anyone would expect.

Let's hope they can keep that same motor in the second half! Our forwards and their backline worked a lot, so now it comes down to fitness and depth. We need a W badly, we can't go into the second half of non conference with 1 win! We can win this if we don't turn it over in their half, UConn's back line and transition is weak

it's very true - we have had some terrible keepers
we have had some good ones too, but for a guy that specializes in keepers....
