This is the official Group I thread. Group I contains France, Senegal, Iraq and Norway. Although the expanded world cup means that groups tend to be easier, I have seen most people say this is probably the toughest group.
2x Champions France arrive as one of the major favorites for this edition of the World Cup. They've been to the last 2 Finals having won 2018 and lost on penalties in 2022. They almost definitely have the most potent attack with Mbappe, Dembele, Olise and Doue. Back to front, they are the best team in the tournament imo. Senegal is one of the top teams in Africa, led by Sadio Mane. They've have upset France before back in 2002 in the World Cup so maybe time for a repeat. Iraq returns for their 2nd World Cup having not been back in 40 years. The beat Bolivia in the inter-confederation playoffs. Norway finally returns to a major tournament for the first time in 26 years. They've missed both the Euros and the World Cup a combined 12 straight times which is hard to believe. Many see them as another potential dark horse and that all comes down to having the bestrobot striker in the world with Erling Haaland. They will go as far as Haaland and captain Odegaard can take them. If those 2 get hot, there are very few teams that can stop them from scoring.
