What a wild trade. Minnesota must have had cap problems, I thought he was a solid 3rd scorer, but weak in defense,

I can only assume another big trade is coming for Minnesota.

Ayo signed 5/112. Not sure of their cap situation but they could have something else coming

The Heat are back with this trade and Bam. I would guess they are now one all star guard away from being a top 2 or 3 team in the East, don't know their cap situation.

Follow this guy for good quick cap breakdowns

Ayo going to make about double Collin Gillespie. And they used a first to salary dump Randle to do it

Wolves are 31M below the first apron. They have multiple exceptions now. But they can't use them all because you are hard called eat the first apron if you use your exceptions.

They also have at least 5 roster spots to fill because only 9 players and that's includes DDV, who won't play this year

I'm a Rockets fan with a trade scenario.

Seems like the Celtics are ready to move on from Jaylen Brown. Houston would be a logical landing place due to his relationship with Udoka.

Rockets get: Jaylen Brown

Celtics get: Alperen Sengun, Jabari Smith and Dorian Finney-Smith

Rockets get a second #1 player to team with Durant. Starting lineup is Van Vleet, Amen, Brown, KD and Steven Adams. If the egos can co-exist, that is a really good lineup on paper.

Sengun is a young All-Star, and Smith is a solid player who is still young enough to project there might be room to grow. DFS is just to balance out the salary cap.

Good for everyone, right?

I think it only makes sense for the Celtics if Jaylen has demanded a trade and this is the best offer out there.

If this was a trade offered to Boston, I think they'd ask for 2 unprotected 1st's in addition to Sengun and Jabari. Brown was that good of a player last year, essentially getting the Celtics to 50 wins with just him and a bunch of role players.

Real talk, the Rockets are in a tough situation because they do need to make a move to compete for a championship, but it's become pretty clear in recent years that Durant isn't an ideal leader, so you need someone to take that role from him and let him just go score.

Yeah, an actual star like Brown is WAY more valuable than Bari+Sengun. Sengun is too ball dominant and not that great without the ball in his hands because he is a bad shooter and bad defender. But you dont want to take the ball out of Tatum's hands to let Sengun be a little hub. I don't see how that works, especially with the Celtics loving to shoot threes. They definitely want picks, too.

Agreed. KD is aloof. Having Van Vleet on the court next year should help, though. This team "as is" is not a real contender and I'm doubtful that any of their young players being more than "pretty good." I'm fine trading any of those guys while there still might be "upside." Amen is their best young player, but he can't shoot. Sengun is a good player, but you seem to have to plan your offense around him. Jabari is a 3 and D guy whose three isn't very good. Tari is a jack of all trades, master of none, and he is a free agent. Reed is a shooting specialist who is streaky and a defensive liability (also clearly looks like Udoka doesn't want/trust him).

I agree. But, star players tend to have a lot of leverage in these situations...nobody wants to trade a lot of resources to acquire a star player who doesn't want to be there. If the Celtics/Brown situation is heading for a divorce, I'm guessing Houston would look pretty good to Brown.

Rockets could sweeten that deal if they wanted. I know Sengun is an awkward fit, but he is still a skilled All-Star in his 20's. Jabari, Amen and Reed all have holes in their games, as well. I'm not overly attached to any of them at this point.

ESPN: No leaks, Shams, we want people watching.

Also ESPN: Let's zoom in on the pick for 2 minutes before the pick comes in.

Wish the Rockets would get rid of Durant.

Because the Memphis Grizzlies acquired Karim Lopez, I expect the Grizzlies to play every Texas team in Mexico City over the next couple of years.

Also, this interview couch that ESPN had the families sitting on to interview Lisa Salters makes me laugh. Could they not find something a little higher and wider? For the 2nd Round, they should just have them sit on the ground.

That whole segment was so awkward. Half of her questions were worded so strange and the families acted like they had no clue what she was asking.

I'm kind of surprised they don't say "Hey, here is the list of questions we'll ask you if you get drafted". She's over here saying "You like to cook, so what kind of ingredients does it take to make the NBA?"

Lakers sign Austin Reaves to a max 4 yr/$185mil contract. What an absolute blow to their title hopes. Obviously they were negotiating against the Nets, and they would have had to let him walk for nothing if they didn't max him, but this immediately becomes a top 5 worst contract in the league, and potentially leads to Luka walking in 2 years if they can't miraculously field a competitive roster before his contract is up.

Bidding against no one. Bulls and Nets used their cap space and could only offer him 30 starting

Even worse. Not sure what Pelinka is thinking with this one.

He's thinking he'll get Flagg from the Mavs to bail him out.

If Durant has showed anything throughout his career, it's his willingness to cast ego aside.
As a Rockets non-fan I say keep KD as long as possible. In fact, bring Harden back too.

To be fair, the Giddey and Kuminga contracts are about the only ones I can remember where the team actually played hard ball and used the lack of realistic alternative offers to hold on to a player at a lower value.

I think teams are overly afraid of hurting their guys feelings of they don't max them out, only thing that could explain the recent deals given to Trae and Austin despite no competition for their services.

Reaves is somewhat more understable, except they just burned their potential of cap space in the process. Trae's contract was completely inexcusable, but I would bet that it was agreed to long ago similar to the Fox deal. But still even more ridiculous than the Fox deal because Trae was literally traded for cap filler. Washington got off a contract they didn't want in Kispert and an ending contract in 35yo CJ McCollum and that's it. Giving a guy that was just traded for cap filler a max contract is absolutely wild. There was just no market for him.

Sadly makes sense for both teams.
