What's wrong with this?

You're supposed to swing at strikes especially early in the count before pitchers can get to their secondary pitches.

I have no problem with this.

Now...The problem for me is that fact they're not driving those pitches. They're either missing them or weak contact somewhere.

I've never been on the Yanier train. His swing is all over the map and I dont think he will ever be a consistent hitter unless he changes his approach big time, which I hope he does.

We don't swing at the first pitch strike. We have the highest swing rate on the first pitch. Whatever it is. More than 36%

And yes. We don't drive balls. We have a low barrel and hard hit rate.

Usually the Astros lead or are near the top in striking out the least but are 9th currently with 1,010 while Toronto leads with 865. There's a substantial difference between the Padres at 3rd and Cubs at 4th.

I tend to blame the quick innings from this offense simply on trying to not strike out, but I'm sure there's more to the team's aggressive approach than that.

It was about understanding that it doesn't matter if you made a good pitch or bad pitch. It was still always going to set up the next 1. Just because you didn't hit your mark, it doesn't mean it didn't serve its purpose.

I dunno...I like little insights like that. Baseball is such a mental game.

I hate MLB and it's stupid blackout rules. Fox has the broadcast, but I'm in a blackout zone so I can't watch it on MLB.tv. So I go to Fox and they're showing Yankees Red Sox... You would think they'd be showing the "local" game, but no. Thanks a lot Rob
