I am not disrespecting Walker at all - since his improvement, I think he is the right choice for the 5 spot in the order.

My one concern with him is against high velo. So in late game scenarios against hard throwing relievers, I am worried that they would pitch around Yordan every time to get to Walker behind him.

I simply prefer Correa hitting behind Yordan instead of in front of him.

I would go Pena, Altuve, Yordan, Correa, Walker OR Pena, Yordan, Altuve, Correa, Walker.

I think if Yordan goes back to being anywhere close to Yordan I bet Joe bats him 2nd or 3rd in the order like he's done in the past.

ETA - based on how he looked in Corpus I bet we see something pretty damn close to the Yordan we remembered...at least much better than whatever we got at the start of the year as he tried to work through it.

You are seriously overestimating the influence of Jomboy and it doesn't really matter what some Yankee or Dodger fans think.

Beltran will get in next year and he was the mastermind and the only player named in the report. I do think that probably cost him a few years, but he nearly got in this year, and is going to get in soon.

Worst case scenario, these same writers keep Altuve out initially, but there is zero chance he's not in the HOF eventually. Even if he retires today.

I know that wasn't the point of your post, but I'm not going to abide by that, even as a throwaway comment.

Yeah - that was my only point about Walker.

We need a core of quality hitters that aren't just situational. We have 4 hitters with Yordan that scare pitchers regardless of LH or RH or type of stuff.

Walker has become a strong hitter, but still has a weakness for high octane. We want to protect Yordan with one of the Big 4 because he will get walked the most in crunch time.

I think Walker has always ideally been a secondary power hitter (ideal for 5-6 spot in the order) for a strong lineup. Not only did he struggle in the first half, but he never should have been hitting in the top 4 to start with. He is a high power, high strikeout guy to bat behind your best hitters.

Yeah it has more to do with the buffet of other OF who suck at the plate

The good news is that Yordan should have fresh legs, so playing half his games in LF moving forward should not be a problem.

You can easily DH Altuve and play Yordan in LF when Brown and Framber are on the mound, and DH Yordan with Altuve at 2B in the other games.
