Did anyone actually see Framber on the bench yesterday? Watching on the tube, I don't recall having seen him like I ordinarily do.
MaxPower said:Its looking like a challenge. Luis is another option but hard to rely on two guys starting 30+ times coming off TJ. I'd guess we shop in the middle market. I still think Dustin May's talent is too high and would love to see what our coaches could do with his stuff.W said:

Dana needs to overhaul the S&C staff, this is ridiculous. The entire year

See ya in 2027 Spencer
This comes as no surprise.
There's a reason why the Astros rarely sign pitchers to long term deals. The "tweaks" they make to these guys often come with maxing out spin rates which puts a tremendous amount of pressure on their arms. Some more than others.
Spencer had little to no chance of sniffing the big leagues without making big adjustments. It comes with a risk unfortunately.
And no, the Astros aren't the only team doing this.
That said - it's possible this turns out to be no big deal. We'll see.

I missed the Jake incident. Was he hurt, removed from the game, amputated... or all rampant speculation?

His leg blew straight off his body! It was wild!
No - he fouled a ball off his right leg - looked like either shin or top of foot. He finished the AB, but was pulled from the game in the 5th inning. I'm guessing we'll find out more Friday.

Is there video?
Jake Meyers went 2-for-3 with R, 2B, RBI in his rehab game before being pulled in the 5th inning. Possible due to this foul ball.

Later in the at-bat he doubled and then later struck out in his second at-bat of the inning. #Astros pic.twitter.com/jCm0WwH8ud

And the Astros won't stop unless those other teams stop too. None of these teams are really going to stop when they can bring in cheap guys with lots of upside, tweak them, get the max out of them until they get injured, and then do it all over again with someone else as long as the overall team pitching numbers are really good.
It really sucks, but it's earned both player and coach lots of money and has helped a lot of guys achieve a life long dream of playing MLB ball.
It's something I wonder if will become a point of hang up at the next MLBPA and MLB team CBA negotiations.

Jim Bouton said it best, that pitchers would take a pill to take 5 years off their life to win 20 games. I remember 30 years ago you had only a few people who threw 95. Now it's a standard to pitch in MLB. And every pitch is maximum effort, hence so many injuries.
