Assuming it's legal, all I can think of is the person who came up with it may have a design patent and he licenses it to the Yankees only.

Otherwise it's open season. And if it really is a better bat then everyone will do it almost immediately.

I will never happen, because, well Yankees, but it would be absolutely ROFL hilarious if they had to void that 20 run win because one bat measured 2.7" diameter.

I saw on twitter from a former yankee this is something they've been working on for a long time, they have an MIT grad on staff that developed it.

It makes sense to me, and it's not all upside to these bats.
