This leads me to believe that the choice between Short and Rodgers was largely financial. We had to determine if Rodgers was going to be worth the $2-3M he's going to cost.

We'll see how much Dezenzo and Smith play, but this looks nice. Dubie plays 2-3x per week and Rodgers makes an appearance every week or so?
assuming they are not bringing up the young bucks to sit...

did Dezenzo play LF this spring?

One thing that jumps out is that we have only one lefty in the lineup

Did Breggy actually play 2B and 3B during the spring? I know Devers was injured a while so I assumed Bregman was playing third at that time.

When was the last time the AL was this wide open? Can't count Houston out with the pitching we have.
According to ESPN that's one of the reasons we were counted out

Quote:

no longer have quite the pitching depth that they once did.

Hmm. Okay, 4-letter network. Sure sounds like a lot of this on their part:

I actually admire the front office for not getting too concerned with lefties and righties and just putting the best hitters they could on the roster. Dusty would hate it, but why carry a lefty just to have a lefty if you've got a righty that hits righties better than the lefty?

I dont care, I just dont remember a houston team that had that level of ratio

'98 Astros were very heavy on righties with the Killer Bs and Alou.

Was Everett the only LHH? And he was a switch hitter too.

To be totally fair, prior to the 2022 season there was much consternation over who was gonna start our season thread so I said **** it and created that seasons thread. We won the WS that year.
No matter what!

  • Lance McCullers gets an MLB win in 2025

I remember as a kid watching Spiers barehand a slow roller and go seemingly fully horizontal to throw the guy out at first. That one play put him on my all time favorites list.

The most interesting Spiers fact was that he was a punter at Clemson and served as their special teams coach until recently.
