Having watched Correa in person for ~60 games over the past 3 years, I am not sure that this is a great deal for the Astros. The guy who left 4 years ago is not the guy who is coming back.
Unconfirmed report is that the Twins cheapskate owners agreed to pay $50 million of Correa's salary. If you value 1.0 WAR at roughly $8 million, Correa needs to produce slightly over 6.0 WAR over the next 3+ years to make this a break even deal on value for salary. I think that is a plus/minus proposition: he is at 0.1 bWAR for the year.
Moving to third will help his defensive rating stats some.
He had a WAR of 3.7 last year
This year he's down but he's always seemed to have good and bad years, but mostly good.
Still only 30, so I think getting a cumulative WAR of 6 over three seasons is doable
