Kimbrel? Give Hader one of Paredes' magic shots a couple weeks before the end of the season

Don't know about a curveball, but Jesus can hit a fastball, slider, and change.

I remember a clubhouse argument between Harris and Cerrano years ago about Jesus being able to hit a curveball. Ended with stolen liquor and a bat to the head.

Dunno why you guys are so down on Kimbrel, he just had a good year in 2018

Oh hey all you cool cats, it's time for late-night Astros Bingo!

BY GEORGE
First and foremost, a big shout out to all-time favorite George Springer for being the first individual player to hit his square. Nobody picked George to go 20+ HR, but he hit #20 2 nights ago, and #21 tonight.

IT'S TROUT EVE!
Five of you picked Mike Trout to play in 100 games this year. You're going to get a square tomorrow night. He's at 99 games. Do you believe in unlikelihoods?

SACTOWN, WHERE YOU AT?
While the A's tumble even further down the attendance hole, now averaging 9,590 fans per game, they are up to a record of 59-70, on pace for 74 wins, one off their square of 75.

LOOK WHO DECIDED TO HAVE A DECENT SEASON
With his 17th bomb tonight, Christian Walker is up to paces of 22 HR and 85 RBI.

LOOK WHO DECIDED TO HIT SOME HOMERS
Yainer Diaz his HR #18 tonight, on pace for 23. Also on pace for 15 GIDP.

RUN FOR THE RECORDS
The Rockies lost game #91 tonight. They'll need to go 26-8 to avoid 100 losses, but they're probably not going to break the White Sox 41-121 mark last year, unless the can go 3-31 down the stretch. However, they are really challenging the 1932 Boston Braves' run-differential record. The Braves finished -349. The Rockies are at -332. I've update the Progress tab of the card to track their efforts.

LIVE LOOK AT THE RANGERS' PLAYOFF CHANCES

You guys are going to feel so dumb when the kickoff this 24-9 close to go from 63-66 to 87-75, bro.

Any pitcher the Astros sign is a pitcher M&M wanted them to go get. There's really no downside. If they think they can make an adjustment and that he can be effective, by all means let's see what he's got.

His velo is way down, averaging about 93 mph vs. 98 a few years prior.

Be interesting to see what they do with him. He did post a 4.0 ERA recently, which isn't lights out by any means, but probably better than many of the options we have with Hader out.

He's an experienced reliever that's pitched on the big stage... A LOT. He's not going to randomly forget how to pitch. That alone is better than many of the options we have.

And if he's a disaster you just DFA him and move on

You might want to look up how he was with the dodgers last year. He forgot how to pitch on a quite regular basis.

1. Relievers are volatile.
2. If he sucks, you just DFA him and move on. He's no worse than the worst arm we've had in our bullpen this year.

Trying to get the latest on Yordan. Last I heard is they plan for him to be in Baltimore this weekend. He feels good and is ready to go.

I think he'll be in the lineup Saturday.

Seems a bit premature for a guy with 11 total MLB plate appearances.

Kimbel is 5th in all time saves. He may be older, but just sayin.' This is like getting Kenley Jansen to try out.

I've been following him since he was 17. He is the real deal, but I don't know how he can continue playing catcher at that size. He's still so raw, but the MLB isn't too big for him. If you could take his bat with Adley being the plate you'd really have something.

Personally I'd rather see them lock up Gunnar Henderson for 11 years. I can't stand how most of these outstanding kids will probably wear pinstripes sooner rather than later.

Get Meyers back, Melton goes down. Melton and Matthews I have hopes for, but neither are ready this year,

I have medium hopes for Melton.

He will be 25 in 2 weeks and like you said, clearly not ready. Not a lot of guys are totally overmatched at 25 and go on to be stars. I think he can be a Michael Taylor type, optimistically. I hope I'm wrong but my gut is that he'll be more of a Derek Fisher type that can have a role for the right team but isn't "the future".
texasaggie2015
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yeah. I think right now he's a pinch runner/defensive sub. It's a shame because if he had an average bat he would be very, very good.

I just don't think the hit tool will ever be there.

Agree 100%. I know the power-speed combo is always tantalizing because it's so rare (and if you don't have it you never will), but IMO if the bat to ball skills aren't there at age 25, that's going to be hard to overcome.
Faustus

Carlos has his OPS up to .755.

Since joining the Astros (not including last night's 2 for 5) he's at .859 OPS and 138 OPS+ in 17 games.

Bingo. Not impossible that he's a late bloomer and figures something out, but it's a long shot at this point IMO.

It's why I'm not too high on Janek. He'll be 23 next month, played four years of college ball and is still playing in Asheville. There's still time for sure - but I have doubts.

Move him to second base. I've never seen that happen and it actually work out...

I forgot the Orioles ownership changed in 2024.

Maybe new ownership won't tell their fans they can't afford to keep their talent.
BigPete3281

I actually look at Adley's body type, and I don't want to pay him. I want them to pay Gunnar, Westburg, Cowser, Mayo, Beavers, Bradfield Jr, Holliday, Basallo, Wells, Bradish and Rodriguez...but none of that will happen. Hell I'm still upset we traded Norby and Stowers for Trevor Rogers.

Having the best farm system in baseball for 3-4 years has its downside. All of our pitchers have been hurt for 2 years. The small window a team like this has is being wasted. I hate MLB.

Oh and I don't think anyone on my list can stay healthy anyway lol

Westburg especially. This kid is a PRO all around but he gets hurt every other game.
