I think it's more likely that Correa shifts to 2B.

Paredes is apparently not great at 2B.

Kind of a waste of Carlos's talent and arm, but probably makes for a better infield construction

Id hope with an offseason of work knowing that's your primary position moving forward that Isaac would get better at 2B

I think it's much more likely he is the DH with Jose at 2B and Yordan in LF.

Jose is only at 2B for 1/3 of starts. Clearly they don't value him there much

Carlos at 2B and Altuve in LF is the best construction. You don't want Yordan playing LF regularly

Paredes getting ready for his Kirk Gibson WS moment this year.

Trading pena would be a really bad move unless we got a major league ready shortstop top prospect in the deal along with some pitching. Correa's days as a shortstop are over.

Did Carlos know that when he agreed to the trade? Because he said multiple times he wanted to move to 3B, much more natural transition from SS. 2B - you're essentially doing everything backwards from SS

Good to see Walker trending up on the eve of Yordan's return (I think).

Meyers could begin rehab assignment this week.

The stem cells from the Cartel seem to be working for Paredes.

Would be a waste of his arm to put Carlos at 2B. I would think Paredes over there makes more sense and he has all offseason to work on it. For now, IF Paredes comes back, I would expect him to DH, with Altuve at 2B and Yordan at LF.

What happened to Brice Matthew's? I thought he did very well when he was called up.

If we had another series in Arizona, Id be on board, but we dont so he needs to be back at AAA and develop on his own pace the rest of this season for sure

We're almost there

If Parades and Alvarez both rejoin the team here's the lineup I would hope to see:

Peña SS
Altuve 2B
Alvarez LF
Parades DH
Correa 3B
Walker 1B
Diaz/Caratini C
Meyers CF
Smith RF

Maybe switch Correa and Parades

Maybe so. I just think McCormick, Melton and Trammell are absolutely terrible at the plate. I'd put Dubon or Altuve out there if we had a decent infield option.

Carlos seems like the kind of guy that will do what's best for the team and is willing to learn a new position over the offseason. Still easier to field 2B than SS.

If Paredes comes back for this year, they may not want to try Carlos at 2B unless he picks it up easily. Apparently Paredes at 2B is a non starter …they tried it and he's just simply not a good fit there

Carlos is quicker and taller so probably a much better fit

Lineups without the miracle Paredes return still will look quite solid by 2025 standards

Peña 6
Altuve 4
Alvarez DH
Correa 5
Walker 3
Diaz/Caratini 2
Sanchez 7
Meyers 8
Smith 9

Who has better odds of returning before playoffs, Myers or Paredes?
BadAggie
How long do you want to ignore this user?
If you want to build in a little L-R-L-R-L sequence in the middle 5 of the order:

Peña 6
Altuve 4
Alvarez DH
Correa 5
Caratini 2
Walker 3
Sanchez 7
Meyers 8
Smith 9

Or really that would be 7 consecutive spots of alternating handedness

Well, 6, but still that would be a significant change from the righty dominant lineups for a large part of this season to date

Jake maybe on rehab assignment this week

CF Jake Meyers
Injury: Right calf strain
IL date: July 11 (10-day IL)
Expected return: Late August
Status: If rehab continues to go well in West Palm Beach, Fla., could join Triple-A Sugar Land this week, per manager Joe Espada. (updated Aug. 24)

Given that Espada seems to set orders based on traditional lefty v righty matchups one would think Caratini and Sanchez will see plenty of starts v righties

why do Astros players rehab in West Palm Beach instead of Houston?

when did that start?

it takes them away from their family -- or is that part of the plan

the Guardians (64-66) have collapsed in the last 10 days -- exiting the wildcard race

and the Royals (67-65) lost to the White Sox tonight

the 6 playoffs teams in the AL are just about set
